Cannot get drive to give me the screen to have it copy my compute
Bought the 320 from the Geek Squad guy. He downloaded one computer. I have tried to use it on the second one (Vista) and get nothing. How do I back up files on multiple computers and transfer files between computers. I am helpless!!
Re: cannot get drive to give me the screen to have it...

I can help you with that, you will need a data recovery pro to attempt to retrieve your data. Unfortunately Geek Squad really isn't equipped to do that. If you reply with your Country, State and City I will direct you to an appropriate Pro nearest your location.
if its your motherboard that crashed then ther is no problem with your hard disk. connect your hard disk to any other computer and you can access all the files in it.
if it is your harddsik that crashed then try recovery utilities like western digital data storege manger or any other disk recovery tool available for free. if still it fails then you can recover your data if you hand over your hard disk to the nearest service centre. but recover from a hard disk only if its very valuable. thay will charge you per MB of data recovered
I've had two of these Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 drives and both have failed. On the first one, one of the Best Buy Geek Squad guys told me the card (circuit board) was bad. I bought the exact model, swapped cards and the old drive worked fine... for a while. Now it has died. So I am online looking for another one, so I can swap cards again to rescue my data & photos.
