My magellan 4040 when after trying ton update firmware keeps giving me a unable to lad application with a venus version is error

You can Update your Firmware Easily.For getting firmware Update you need to Know and to Enter "Magellan Serial Number" in Specified area[Right top] -Then Click Submit Button..

An SD card is required if your GPS has a Firmware version lower than 2.36 To check if you need an SD card, follow the steps below:

1. Select "user options"
2. Under user options select "system settings"
3. Select "next"
4. Select "Product information". Under product information you will see “Firmware version". If it is less than 2.36, then you need an SD card

There is no recent software updates for your magallen maestro 4040.

You just have to wait till a new one comes out.

But the most recent for now is the rev 2.26 version you are having.

• The only free update for your 4040 is the latest firmware or you can call the tech support of Magellan and ask if you can still avail the latest maps for your 4040 don't forget the recepit when you call them, they may ask you to send it to them for verification.

make sure its not muted or volume turned down. if ok then use the hard reset on the side (tiny hole)use paper clip to reset it. if none of those work check your firmware version and see if its the latest..i have the latest updates for magellan 2200t 3100 3140 4000 4040 and 4050

it is not a scam .then why did you bought it ,i did on my magellan maestro 4000 the firmware update and map but this unit does not come with turn by turn like the old roadmate700 which gave the option to turn on or off turn by turn voice.but what can you do that is life. regardless you must go to magellan website and do all the Upgrades and Maps Updates

try to press the reset button on the left side next to the usb port with a small paper clip or toothpick and see what happens and chk on the magellan website to see for firmware update if it is do it and plug in powersupply and the usb and leave it alone and let it reset a few times until it says to unplug from the usb .also make sure it has a flash sd card in it so you do not lose your addresses.let me know what happens.

I had the same problem, you need to format the SD card. BUT before you even do that, go under your settings and you'll see your current firmware version. I went through 30 minutes of messing around to find out I had 2.36 already!
