Question about Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000 Webcam

1 Answer

Creative Software Just bought a Creative Live Cam Notebook Pro camera. Installed software. When I use the Creative Webcam Center software, I get a lot of ?????? as text especially in the settings tab. I'm running Windows XP Pro with SP2 and all the latest updates. Computer is a Dell D800 with Pent M processor, 2gb ram. I've uninstalled and re-installed the software and still have these question marks. Any suggestions?

Re: Creative Software

Well, the questionmarks often suggests that the language pack is not installed. Try downloading the English software from their website. It is possible that this is another language.

You can download the latest driver from their site here:
Just select your model there and there will be a download link on the product page. If your model is not listed there, scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "If your product is not listed above, please click here."

Am a little frustrated. I installed my Creative web Cam model vf 0520 and it was working fine, detected by both my Windows XP and the Creative Web Cam Center software.but now not detecting in my pc.why it...

Plug in your camera.
From your Control Panel navigate to the Device Manager and look for any driver alerts ( warning triangles / question marks)
Expand the 'Imaging' folder and right click on your webcam text
Make sure the camera is enabled

You can try this diagnostic software but it does not highlight driver problems

This problem is not fixed through the settings of your Creative device but by selecting the right webcamin your messaging software.

When you install your Creative Camera it installs the physical Camera as well as a virtual Camera. So there are actually 2 (or more Camera's installed). The Avatar plays through the virtual Camera.

Whatever programme you are using (MSN or SKYPE etc) you need to select the correct video Camera.

So, for example in MSN messenger, select Tools, Audio Video Setup and select your camera from the list (make sure the Virtual camera is not selected).

To be even clearer as an example: If you are using a LiveCam Notebook Ultra 3 camera, you will see the following listed as cameras when you go to select a webcam to use within your messaging software :
Live! Cam Ultra Notebook #3 -- this is your normal camera
Live! Cam Virtual -- this us the Avatar etc camera,
Live! Cam Ultra Notebook Ultra (VFW) -- this is your widescreen camera

Just select the right one!
