Question about Computers & Internet

Wireless keyboard locks up ... have contacted HP support (service ticket number 801952055 ... talked to A.Schwerin ... problem not resolved. Have done everything recommended by HP under 'Keyboard Troubleshooting (Windows Vista)' and 'Troubleshooting Wireless Keyboards and Optical Mice'. Standard keyboard works fine ... only wireless keeps locking up. Restarting the computer fixes the problem momentarily ... then it gradually degrades ... response time getting slower and slower and finally no activity at all. Sometimes the keyboard works fine. It will sit idle for a few hours ... and then it is unresponsive. I AM SO FRUSTRATED I COULD SCREAM !!!!! How do you suggest that I resolve this issue?????

    Similar problem.
Wireless HP Keyboard works fine most of the time and then sometimes it takes ten seconds or more for a key press to be accepted. They are not all buffered as I can hit 'A' for example, then 'pple' and maybe a 'p' will display.

I have checked to see if some process was taking up all the cycles, if I was swapping to disk, or a bunch of other expected reasons for this problem but everything seems OK. Excpet the keyboard is unusable.

Often, I replace the batteries thinking that the juice was low but even with fresh batteries, I often have the same problem.

Last night I quit usiing my computer in frustration. Today, no problems at all.

Beats me what is going on.
    Any ideas?

My HP wireless Keyboard can be reset by momentarily disrupting its power, e.g., removing the battery cover and lifting one of the batteries. It's not much of a fix but seems preferable to restarting.

Similar problem which I resolved today.
I have a hp wireless mouse model no. 5189URF. I bought this in hp online in April 2009. It needs 2 x AA Alkaline batteries.
Steps I did to resolve.
1. Removed battery cover.
2. Removed batteries below which 2 screws exist.
3. Remove 2 screws and remove the top casing of mouse.
4. You can see 2 very small square push button corresponding to left and right clicks in mouse.
5. try to press the left button and make sure its free. The issue seem to be that this button becomes rusty internally and lost contact. Therefore clicks are not recognized. You may need to press it repeatedly and also with a slight thrust circumferentially.
6. You can test your mouse in WIndows Help & support option linked with HP hardware diagnostics tool.

Cant get my wireless mouse to work

Hi,

1. Press the sync button on the reciever (the only button on the reciever)

2. When the light blinks, press the sync button on the mouse (the button you are talking about on the mouse is a sync button, not a reset button, there is no reset button on the mouse), after you press the sync button on the mouse, the blinking will stop and will remain steady

Please post your feedback and Vote if the proble resolved as per your satisfaction.

Heres a Link on how u can resolve this issue.. http://tinyurl.com/y8ek43e
if even after performing all the steps mentioned in the document.. and if ur computers under warranty then contact HP and get the mouse replaced.. ;) but before u do so.. do try to download the updates from HP.. and do inform about all the steps u tried to perform and yes one more thing u can do.. click Start--All Programs -- PC Help and Tools (if its a HP Computer) and open Diagnostic Tool.. and select Communication and run a test on Mouse.. if test fails.. go ahead contact HP.. and get the mouse replaced..
let me know if this resolved ur issue.. regards, guru

HP 8159URF Wireless Keyboard Dongle lost! How can i use it?

Unless you can find not only the exact part number but a dongle with the exact same serial number its not possible.Having the same issue.I say shame on HP for creating this issue by not wanting to sell type specific replacements to resolve this problem. They would prefer that you buy an entire new set. Good Luck.
