Depending on the age or your television, this could be a simple fix. Newer TVs seem to be unable to translate the simple video colors from the Super Nintendo and thus render them in black and white. Try using an older TV.
thats cause your connector is going bad probably. to verify this, instead of using the RF connector, use the a/v cables and if you get white lines either way then you know the connector inside of the NES needs to be changed.
a 'front load' nes ALWAYS does this, even if the connector pins inside the console are new. the cartriges on a Front Load nes rarely completely seat, as Nintendo redesigned the Famicom very poorly for the US market.
1. put the cart in as usual, but hold it all the way down
2. slip an unwanted/extra cart in on top of the metal hoop above the cart your using.
this gives a better contact for the cart.
try cleaning the cartrige pins as well. some won't read right if there's ANYTHING on the pins.
first off flip your nes upside down and remove the screws to the cover of nes..... then flip your nintendo over and remove the cover.... remember you just voided your warranty for your nes..... then proceed to do the following:
find Chip 3193A and find the 4th pin on the left hand side near the blue coils. Remove or pull back the pin and your NES Will play Pal and NTCS games.
