Why won't a Universal Remote control all my devices?

just because its a universal doesnt mean its going to work all devices and brands. a universal remote control may not have the codes you need for you device. which means it wont work. so devices and brands you are just out of luck. sorry

my rca remote battery went dead and i just change the battery and kick the codes off and i want it back

The "Universal" in "Universal Remotes" refers to the remote controls ability to control a wide range of device types and models and every thing.

BECAUSE ALL BRAND HAS DIFFERENT CODE. MAY BE THE CODE DID NOT ACCEPT BY REMOTE. TRY TO PROGRAM AGAIN. OR YOU TRY TO BUY PHILIPS MAGNAVOX REMOTE CONTROL IT HAS A WIDE RANGE OF SCOPE OF TV THAT IT CONTROL.

Sometimes universal remotes just cannot work for all brands and all other units. if they do not have any codes that work your unit then its possible that the remote just wont work. just because its a universal remote doesn't mean that it will program to every unit. I know you may not want to hear this, but the brand of universal remote you buy makes a big difference in the codebase it supports. One For All universal remotes are the best in the sub $50 market, while the Harmony from Logitech should be able to control as many devices as you can throw at it. There is also http://www.hifi-remote.com/jp1/ that will guide you, though very technically, through setting up a remote to control MANY devices, even adding codes to those remotes that didn't originally contain them(I added an Apex AD-660 DVD player code to several remotes that didn't have codes built in)

I ams sure there is a model out there that will cover what you are looking for. The more elaborate your systems is (DVD/DVR/TV/Audio/Etc) the more expensive the remote you'll need.

The Harmony 880/890 remotes are quite useful and have a database of 175,000+ devices that gets updated regularly.

You can download the Harmony software from logitech and input your devices to see of they are in the database.
