Question about Dynex Multimedia Keyboard

Keyboard is rapid repeating keys when pushed

It will randomly rapid input random keys when I push them. Putting too many "L"s in a word, or backspacing a dozen times instead of once.

Letters randomly repeating when a key is pressed

Sounds like a sticky key or the springs might be worn out, you can take the battery out of the laptop and unplug it then try to clean under the keys with some rubbing alcohol, but you run the risk of breaking the keyboard. You would be best off just ordering a new keyboard for it and replacing the old one.

Thank you for your question.

My you do have a dilemma there with the key next to your input key also typing. My suggestions would be your;

Keyboard is breaking down or broken, replace with a new one.

Keyboard has random stuff under some of the keys such as dirt, fluff etc, try turning the board upside and shaking gently to let gravity do its thing and the foreign objects fall out. Try vacuuming the keyboard or if possible using an air duster.

If it is a programmable keyboard, such as wireless, maybe the driver needs reinstalling. Unlikely but worth a try.

Kind regards

Laptop keyboard "dropping" key strokes

If this happens always with same key, then it is usually a bad key switch, and keyboard must be replaced.

If this happens randomly on a set of keys, then the keyboard flat ribbon cable is not well connected or is faulty, or the keyboard is faulty.

The laptop must be taken apart to check the keyboard connection.

The keyboard on dell is accessed removing determined screws underneath, then removing the upper cover that enclose pad and armrest.

If the keyboard is well connected, and fixing connector does not solve the problem, then the keyboard must be replaced.

Recently I've my enter key has been completely unresponsive. I popped the cap off for more info but it appears to be on correctly and simply doesn't work. This would be a mere inconvenience as I can either...

The cost of replacing the keyboard is relatively low. If you do it yourself, about 35. If you have a techie do it, double that. That is most likely the only fix.

The number key does not work even after changed the batteries. And the back space button and some of the keys don't work unless you push hard on them.

Look for dirt or grit under the keys, use a can of compressed air to clean out the keyboard. To use the number pad, you have to ensure that the NumLock button has been turned ON.

If the keys still dont seem to work, remove batteries and type randomly over keyboard for about 20secs. Now reinsert the batteries (ensure correct orientation), and reconnect the KB with dongle by pressing the connect button on dongle first and then on the KB. Make sure there is no source of interference nearby, such as speakers, powerful magnets, etc.

If the KB still does not function properly, uninstall and reinstall the software. Still wont function? KB is defective. Contact Logitech regarding an RMA if within the warranty period.

Cheers!

Touchpad and cursor keys quit working

I used to get this problem. It is VERY annoying as you must know. try pushing the windows icon button in the top right corner of your keyboard(thats where it is on my keyboard)then use your arrow keys to scroll up to control panel, select mouse by using arrow keys and then use the tab and arrow keys to open the mouse keypad pagetab and push enable and enter key to turn it on.
IF WHEN YOU DO THAT AND your in the touchpad properties but there is no 'enable' and it says no hardware detected, then go into the same mouse window from the control panel and go to the hardware tab and either try to update driver or use the trouble shoot button.

Hope this helped =]

Keyboard not responding or typing random letters

You have stuck keys from when you removed to clean. Remove the stuck keys and see if it works OK when you press the rubber cap instead of key
The back space one may have a link under it if it is a wide one ensure it is fitted correctly
