Question about Husqvarna 160 CC Honda OHC Engine 21 in

Open Question

Huskavana Stalls... Any one else out there that has this issue? It was doing this last year and now more progrssive this year. My Huskv,,,Snowblower runs and throws the snow at a great distance. However, just today, it stalls and I am able to restart it with no problem. Just seams as I move fwd/rvs it stalls. Someone told me that the carburators were adjusted for the California Emmision Laws and this is a quick fix then all is is fine. Has anybody else had this issue ?

SOURCE: Ariens 2 cycle snowblower runs a short time then stalls.

That sounds like a float problem. When you tip it back it is raising the floats letting the fuel go through the carb. But when back at normal it closes the the fuel feed and thus stalling the engine check the float assembly.

Sounds like an air leak somewhere. Or possible a clogged fuel filter.

Make sure the chain can be turned by hand and is well oiled. Check the muffler, fuel filter, and air cleaner for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines and primer button--does the primer pull fresh fuel into it when pumped? Check the carburetor fasteners for tightness including the mounting to the cylinder. If there is a rubber isolator between the carburetor and cylinder, check it for cracking or any holes. Make sure you are using modern synthetic saw oil in the fuel, not boat motor petroleum based oil. If still acting up, clean and re-kit the carburetor. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: stalls under load

Try opening up the high speed jet, see if it does any better. Turn it just a quarter turn at a time, if opening it up doesn't do anything, try closing it. If that doesn't do it, try closing it down all the way, then open it up 1 1/2 turns, this will put you into run mode, you can adjust it from there. You have 2 screws on the side of the carb, low, high, they are marked, don't be afraid to turn, that is what they are for. Check it out.

IF you did not drain the fuel or use a fuel stabilizer AND the fuel had ethanol in it, you may have water issues from being stored. There could be valve damage.

It sounds like your pulleys are not lined up where they should be. Do your belts look lined up when installed properly? Those belts should last several years if every thing is working properly. if the belts look uneven then you will have to line them up by moving the pulleys one way or another. If there is a belt tightener that alone could be mis aligned.

Hi davefrag1057, has it sit all year with fuel in it? Sounds like the high speed jet is blocked. Or the float is stuck in off position not allowing fuel to flow into carbuerator bowl. Or you may have water or other debri in bowl. I would start by removing the carbuerator bowl, clean it( and watch what comes out of it). I use a clean pan to drain it into so I can see water or other contaminates. Before replacing the bowl check float operation, with the float hanging down and the gas on fuel should be flowing, lift the float to level and flow should stop. Now while the bowl is off lets deal with blocked jet. If you have compressed air blow through it.(its right up through the middle of the float.) Without air remove the jet and run a small wire through it. This should get ya going. Happy New Year! (don't recommend using ether).

My ariens snowblower only works in the choke position. once i turn it where it sould be it stalls

had same problem with a small 2 cycle outboard motor last year. I had run it during the summer, put it away for the winter and when I went to fire it up the following Spring it would only run with half to full choke. Old fuel had gummed up the carburater by letting it sit in there for a few months, had to disassemble and clean all the carb parts (including the jets) and it worked good as new. You could do it yourself or take carb to a small engine repair shop and have them do it. May or may not require a rebuild kit depending on how gummed up it is. Hope this helps.
