Question about Brother IntelliFAX 4100 Laser Fax

Brother Intellifax 4100 squeaky sheet feeder

I know something needs to be lubricated in the Auto Document Feeder (sheet feeder) of our Intellifax 4100, but I'm not sure where or what lubricant to use to stop it squeaking. I'd like prolong its life and not hear the squeak anymore. It does get a fair amount of use. Thanks for help. Bob P.

Re: Brother Intellifax 4100 squeaky sheet feeder

The doc feed asm needs to be rebuilt. Only white lithium grease is used to lube the gears and avery light oil on the shafts. All parts are available from brother. I can get the parts if you have trouble obtaining them. It is relatively easy to rebuild and I charge in my area of Clearwater Florida, about 100.00 parts and labor.

My Brother Intellifax 4100 sends faxes that appear with a solid black line on the side--i think it's the right hand side. It prints copies the same way. How can I fix it?

if the faxes going out have the line but coming in print out clear then the glass at the document feeder is dirty and probably needs cleaning.. check under the feeder cover and look for a glass piece where the documents go in this picks up dirt and typex and when it scans the document it thinks its on the original.. a soft cloth and some glass cleaner should clean it off..

Lines on fax going out, fine receiving fax

check the scanner glass under the cover where the documents are fedd through if you lift the lid on this you should see a thin slip of glass if this has ink or usually tipex on it the lines will be on every fax that goes out.. there might be a small roller over this that has a clip each end you can take this out for acces to hte glass

When sending a fax on our Brother Fax-4100 the person on receiving end of the fax says it comes across totally black What is the problem??

If you make a copie. on your fax.

That is the same quality that you are sending over the phone line.

If the copie is total black

lift the document feeder see if there is anything on your optical glass.

But my experience tells me that the lamp has gone out also know en as the scanner asm.

let us know what hapens
