I've been using my Plustek Opticfilm 7300 and the Silverfast program for scanning old slides, and everything worked fine up until just a few days ago. Then the vertical slides suddenly began getting clipped off on the top and bottom--with black space added to the right and left, as if something was trying to turn them into horizontal photos instead.
It's almost like what happened when I first got the scanner, before I realized that horizontal slides had to be placed in the tray vertically to prevent their sides from getting clipped off. But, as these are vertical slides, I don't see how I could be placing them incorrectly.
It could possibly be a problem with the program I use to view the finished result--Windows Photo Gallery--as the small preview images the scanner shows as it is working appear correct. It is only the finished product that comes up wrong. If you have any ideas about why this could be happening, please let me know.

If you got Silverfast with the scanner, the driver should be on the CD.
But you still can get support from Silverfast for your software. I'm sure they can provide the driver, or can tell you where to get it.
Please download first the most recent device drivers for your Plustek Opticfilm 7200 scanner from Plustek's website.
Log-on as an administrator to your Windows system, if your aren't already.
Delete the installed SilverFast software and then install the downloaded drivers.
Please reboot your system now, again logging on as admin. You want to download the latest version of SilverFast for your scanner http://www.silverfast.com from website and install it, too.
After another reboot, please check if your scanner is displayed in both,
device manager (from control panel "system" > "hardware") and
control panel (under "scanner and cameras").
have you tried the patch here: http://plustek.com/usa/support/drivers-and-downloads.html
also i'm getting some pretty dark pictures too.

Be sure to put the slide in the holder in the proper direction. The opening in the slide holder is rectangular, not square like the slide. If you place the slide in the holder horizontally and the holder window is vertical, it will crop off the sides of your picture.
In the Twain driver for your intellscan, there should be a selection for the type of scan. It should be set to "black & White Negative" or "Color Negative". The program you use to edit the scanned file should be able to change it to a positive if the scanned result is still negative. Programs such as Photoshop, Paint shop Pro etc can use Twain to have the scanner scan directly into them. There the phot (negative) can be edited and saved.
Has the scanned slides each been given a File name and saved on the Hard Drive? If yes , burn the files onto a disk from the hard driver using the file names to burn.
