Intel D915GUX Memory Upgrade Problem

I am trying to upgrade the ram on my D915GUX MB to 4GB from 2GB. I have had no problem with 2GB. I am using identical 1GB SIMMs and have tried different vidio cards. I have tried booting with all drives disconnected and in all cases I get nothing, no beep codes, video etc. just a black screen when I boot.
The MB has a P4 3.2ghz processor and I have a 450W PS installed.
I can get it to work with 3 simms in single channel mode but not with 4. I have tried different SIMMs on the 4th slot but no difference.

You should Know that, none of the 32 bits Windows can detect more than 3 GB of ram. I think, compatibility cam be a fact but dont forget this one.

Is the memory compatible with your board? Intel's website has a list of compatible memory for this board. Hope this helps.

I have an Intel 845 Gvsr Motherboard, with 512 mb 266 Mhz RAM I want to upgrade the system to 320GB, with 2 Gb RAM, and also I want to make it HD Compatible is it possible, and is it worth taking a risk. ...

Upgrading HDD is no risk for your PC. The RAM memory instead should cause a problem if it's not compatible. The problem that can appear is simple: your computer won't start until you take out the ram memory. Your type of motherboard supports:Max 2Gb of RAM (DDR SDRAM)
Cheers.

I have compaq presario 5000 series...and iwant upgrade my ram ...i have 128+128 sd ram so how much i upgrade my ram...can i upgrade 512+512 sd ram OR 256+256 sd ram...thank you

the RAM upgrade will depend on ur motherboard capacity and specification.
u need to check ur MB manual
if ur MB can have only SD RAM then only SD RAM upgrade is possible...DDR will not work....
so be careful while buying ur RAM

intelD845GLLy MB...the following details are from the intel website

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845glly/sb/CS-012825.htm

System Memory Features
The D845GLLY board provide the following memory features:
  • Two DIMM sockets supporting 3.3 V (only) 168-pin 133 MHz Single Data Rate (SDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
  • Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only
  • Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB
  • Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only
  • Suspend to RAM
Caution Do not use ECC DIMMs with the Desktop Board. Using ECC DIMMs could damage the Desktop Board.
Integrator's Notes:
  • Registered DIMMs are not supported on the Desktop Board.
  • This Desktop Board has been designed to support DIMMs based on 512 Mbit technology for a maximum onboard capacity of up to 2 GB, but this technology has not been validated on this board.

Note To be fully compliant with all applicable PCI33 SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance.
hope this helps

I got intel 845 gl motherboard having ddr 256mb pc3200 ram. there are two slots availble. i want to upgrade

If you want to upgrade your ram, buy the same memory frequency like your current ddr 256 mb pc3200 memory. You can upgrade your memory up to 4GB and be sure they have all the same frequency to avoid system complications.

Can Gigabyte GA-8I945PLGE-RH supports 4gb ram?

Sorry, but at the moment you can't do that. This is because the BIOS is programmed to manage only 2GB memory. I searched for BIOS upgrade to resolve the memory issue but with no luck. At the moment your motherboard supports only 2 GB RAM.

I would like to upgrade memory, but want to assure compatability

Let me make sure, even if your motharboard supports 4 GB memory, A system of 32 bit (most users use 32 bit and among intel processors only intel core2duo/dual core supports 64 bit) wont show more than 3 GB of ram. its an operating system limitation.

But sorry to say, The max limit for your motherboard is 2GB.

Thanks
