Question about GoVideo DVR4000 DVD Player/VCR

Open Question

Go Video DVR4300 had been working fine. All of a sudden today I am unable to play any videos. I can hear sound but there is no picture. I've tried several video tapes and the same thing. I've tried recording and I can hear sound when I hit the play button, but again no picture. There does not appear to be any sound when I press the "play" or "stop" buttons on the system like normal. I also tried unplugging the GoVideo for about an hour - and same thing keeps happening. I've also tried setting the RF output channel to 3 or "line 1" and same thing. It's been set on channel 4 and had been fine. Now I also cannot get the set up on screen because there is no picture. My tv screen is working fine. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. There are about 15 inches of snow outside, I've already been x-country skiing, and I'd love to be able to watch a videotape movie. Help! Thanks much Roslyn

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: I would like to download

Hi!

Try this link:

http://www.retrevo.com/support/GoVideo-DVR4300-DVD-Players-manual/id/1183bh642/t/2/

Make sure that the link doesn't "wrap" (IOW, make sure that the end of the link actually appears in the browser address bar, should the link not work. If it doesn't work, paste the end back on!)

You'll have to make an account at this site in order to download the manuals, but it is a free process and they have lots of manuals there. BTW, I tried to access this manual directly from GoVideo, but I had no luck getting their site up, assuming that it still works.

Good luck. Please let me know how this works, and please post a rating for me if you deem it appropriate.

SOURCE: go video VR4940 VCR video recording has sound but no picture

You can try cleaning the video tape heads. The vcr has 2 different heads. One for audio which is fixed and a drum head for video with 2 heads on it that rotate. The best way to clean them is to take a lint free cloth ad wrap it tightly around your finger. Put some alcohol on the cloth and place it on the drum. Then rotate the drum as you hold your finger against the drum. DO NOT move your finger up and down as you can brake the head off. The other option is to go buy a head cleaning stick. It's a piece of chamie on a plastic tongue depressor. I've cleaned hundreds of them with my finger though. You can clean the whole tape path with the rag. Good Luck.

Toshiba 43AX60: sound but no picture

try switching to a different video source and play a DVD or a game system. If the issue is still there try unplugging the TV for 5 min. and then plug it back in.If the problem works fine on all other devices except the video source that has the issue try hooking up the same device your having the issue with to a video source you know works if that works then you have a bad video source on the back of the TV, if it does not work it's either the cable going to the TV or the device itself.

DVD playback no playback

Sounds like the scart lead is not in straight. Scart connectors have the audio pins at one end, and the video pins at the other. If the lead isn't in straight then you often get sound and no picture and vice versa.

Check the connection by pushing the scart lead in securely. (Both DVD and TV end of the lead)

Failing that could be a dodgy lead.

Video Playback Sound but no picture

Sounds like the recording and playback heads are dirty. When was the last time you cleaned the heads? If you haven't, buy a Video cleaning kit which are cheap these days and run it through a couple of times. See if that clears it up.
