If the console turns on (you hear fans running and the ring of light is lit), possible issues may be: 1. TV is not on the correct input setting. 2. Graphics card failure (If under warranty, you should be able to send the console to Xbox for refurbishing). 3. Other hardware/software failure.
If the console doesn't turn on (No fans or lights), check the following: 1. Is the power brick plugged into a wall socket? 2. Is the Xbox plugged into the power brick? 3. Is the power brick LED lit? (If you answer no to this, the power brick is likely the problem.)
When a Microsoft Xbox 360 console experiences a "general hardware" failure or "core digital" failure, three flashing red lights appear (known as the "Red Ring of Death") around the power button, in lieu of the four green lights indicating normal operation. Warning signs may include freeze-ups, in which the screen has strange, spontaneous graphical problems in the middle of gameplay, such as checkerboard or pinstripe patterns on the screen, the sound is frozen and changed to a strange, static-like sound, and the console only responds to pressing the power button to turn it off. These events may happen once or several times until the general hardware failure occurs, when the user attempts to turn the console on, and the three red lights are seen and the console will not function.
this sounds like it will error e74 which will need a reflow
but dont overheat with a towel as this will cause more problems
switch power back off, teun it on, hold power touch on the front down--> PS3 will turn on, keep holding until it turns off. when it turns off, take of your finger. hold down your finger again on the power touch, green light will blink, keep holding, you will hear one peep, then two peeps (when you hear the two peeps take off you finger); a menu will show up, chose restore factory default setting then ok, PS3 will restart, hopefully that will fix it
Try this : When you put your ps3 on, hold the power button on the front of the console until it beeps 2 times, then the screen should start flashin and after that u'll get the chance to choose what resolution u want and so on.
When you hold down the power button like this, the screen goes back to default. Should fix your problem!
When the temperature of the power supply is too high
if you have the console plugged into an extension lead try plugging directly into the wall, but 1st, turn off your console and leave power plugged in to allow fans to continue cooling the system.. after fans switch off, carefully plug out power cord and allow cord and console to cool in a well ventilated area for 24 hours. if its still red you may need to replace your power cord as it may have overheated
