The easiest way to reset the PSP is to do a hard-reset. This means holding the power switch in the up position for around ten seconds. This will then shut off the PSP. You may then need to flick the power button either once or twice for the device to come back on.

Language is stuck on chinese

At the home menu menu after a game or something go left as far as you know you can, then go four down. Click x and go down one, click x again, and english is the second one down.

ok here is how this is fixed, first you start with turning the psp on let it start and all that. Then you have to scroll all the way where you see like a tool box its all the way to the left or just use the left button. ok so after that just just click all the way up so the very first icon (two arrows making a circle) is shown. Ok starting from the two arrows scroll or push the down button four times where you'll get the psp icon. Click on that once. and then once more or it should be the second icon from the top. So if you do that you'll get the language menu and just click on English or any other language you wanna choose. Let me know if need more help regarding this problem

The only way to get around a parental lock is to put a new firmware on it or go to System Settings and reset the PSP to default settings. After the reset it will be 0-0-0-0.

Thanks, it was helpful. The manual does in fact clearly state how to change the language even though the on screen instructions were all in Chinese!
