Question about Canon PIXMA MP830 All-In-One InkJet Printer

3 Answers

Canon MP800 PGBK black ink will not print, have replaced tank, have done clean and deep clean. Will not print out on nozzle check either. Tried just about everything. Clean, Deep clean, and again various clean cycles with tech support. Cleaned print head with the distilled water. Prints only color. Will not print text document at all unless I change to color text. Tech guy said may be print head or 'something else'. Not very helpful! Does not pay to take it to repair shop, would cost more to fix than to buy a new printer. Any ideas of what the 'something else' might be and how to fix it??

First of all the print head is clogged just because you have tried to print repeatedly while some of the cartridges are empty. This results ink burn in the nozzle and clog. My recipe: Heat some drinking water in the kettle (70-80 C). Put the head in it and shake gently several times until ink is completely clean (10 minutes). Change the water do the same again. Change the water again (70-80 C) this time put a spoon full of apple vinegar (becomes a natural acidic solution very dilute) shake again, clean with cotton stick. I did it and started to love my mp800 again as much as I just bought it, all colours come back and started to print superior photos again......

I have the same problem.  I turned off the printer, then selected "auto head alignment from the printer's maintenance menu and it worked!
Menu -> Maintenance/Settings -> Maintenance -> Auto Head Align

Canon MX850. Print blank after ink changes. The black ink, PGBK-5, ran out so I replaced it with a cheap generic ink tank. But it didn't work, nothing print, not even color copy. I thought the ink is bad...

That is a common problem on all Canon printers, the purge assembly on the right where the printhead parks, has a pump inside and hoses that go to the filters and ink absorbers. When that unit goes out you need a replacement. A job best done in a shop. When the printhead is not cleaned and primed properly you get blank pages no matter how full the inks are.

The colour is faint, a new catridge was installed

Hi there,
When printing becomes faint or colors are incorrect, even if ink remains in the ink tanks, the print head nozzles are probably clogged. Follow the procedures below to clean the nozzles.

Step 1 : Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern.
If white stripes are noticeable
Step 2 : "Aligning the Print Head"
If print quality is poor
Step 2 : "Print Head Cleaning"
if the problem remains
Step 3 : Print Head Deep Cleaning"
if the problem still remains
Step 4 : Replacing Ink Tanks.

Note : * If the ink tank replacement does not resolve the problem, contact the Customer Care Center.
* You will be alerted if low ink warning is enabled.
* When the Maintenace button on the operation panel is pressed, the maintenance mode is shown. Numbers and functions that can be selected on the maintenance mode as follows :
01 : Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern
02 : Print Head Cleaning
03 : Print Head Deep Cleaning
04 : Aligning the Print Head
05 : Reset the ink counter.
06 : "Display" or "Not Display" remaining ink volume.
07 : Date and order setting.

Printing the Nozzle Check Pattern : Print the nozzle check patterb to determine whether the ink ejects properly from the print head nozzles and to verify print head alignment. Use this function when printed results are blurred or the color is incorrect,
1) With the printer on, load a sheet of Letter paper in the printer.
2) Print the Nozzle Check Pattern.
a) Press the Maintenance button,
b) The Maintenance icon and 01 appear on the LCD.
c) Press the OK button. The nozzle check pattern is printed.
3) Examine the nozzle check pattern output by the printer.
a) Lines missing in this pattern indicate that the print head of black ink requires cleaning. Perform the Print Head Cleaning.
b) White stripes in this pattern indicate that the print head of color ink requires cleaning. Perform the Print Head Cleaning.
c) Uneven patterns indicate that the print head requires alignment.
Perform Aligning of Print Head.
d) Noticeable white stripes in this pattern indicate that the print head require alignment.
Perform Aligning of Print Head.

Print Head Cleaning : Clean the print head if you suspect that the nozles might be clogged. Cleaning the print head consumes ink, so perform print head cleaning only when necessary.
1) Ensure that the printer is on.
2) Start print head cleaning.
a) Press Maintenance button.
b) Press right arrow once to display 02 on the LCD.
c) Press the OK button.
Important : Do not perform any other operations until the print head cleaning finishes. This takes about 50 seconds.
Note : After the print head cleaning finishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the print head nozzles are clean.
If the problem persists, perform printhead deep cleaning.

Print Head Deep Cleaning : If print quality does not improve by standard print head cleaning, try print head deep cleaning, which is more powerful process. Print head deep cleaning consumes ink, so perforn this procedure only when necessary.
1) Ensure that the printer is on.
2) Start Print Head Deep cleaning.
a) Press Maintenance button.
b) Press right arrow twice to display 03 on the LCD.
c) Press the OK button.
Important : This process takes one or two minutes to complete so simply wait until the Power lamp stops flashing.
Note : After printhead deep cleaning finishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the printhead nozzles are clean.
If the printhead is still not clean after the second deep cleaning, replace the ink tank.
If ink tank replacement does not resolve the problem, the print head may be worn out. Contact the Customer Care Center.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Have a good day.

Canon PIXMA MP500 New Black ink cartridge produces no ink

If you don't use it very often the black could have dried in the printhead, and you will need a new one. Another possibility is that the purge unit is not cleaning and priming the printhead properly. I have seen several defective purge units. For 1 year it can be replaced under warranty, after that it is a $90.00 repair job in the shop.

Canon MP800 PGBK black ink will not print, have replaced tank, have done clean and deep clean. Will not print out on nozzle check either.

This should not be a problem normally. I have 6 canon printers using BCI cartridges which are almost the same as the CLI and PG5 cartridges except for the chip. The problem is only in one of 2 places. The cartridge mouth or the printhead.
1. take a look at the cartridge. Did the foam material on the opening get hit causing it to be higher than 1-2mm from the top of the opening? It could be the foam is not touching the printhead's opening. You can center and or move down the foam by using a needle or a paper clip to edge it out a little so that is comes closer to the mouth of the opening.
2. If you think the cartride is not the problem, take the printhead out. You will need a few things and some. Get some DISTILLED WATER, not mineral water but distilled. Heat it up and put in a wide shallow pan about 1-2mm of water. Warm to the touch or just before boiling point. Place a paper tower folded twice over each other so it looks like a 4 section card. Dip the print head into the towel which should be soaked in the warm to hot water. Dip for 1-2 seconds then lift it up and dig again. Each time you lift it up notice if there are 2 areas that the black ink shows up. If only 1 shows up check which position. I think you have a 5 cartridges and to one side should be the PG5's nozzles. Then next to it about 1cm or half inch away should be the CLI8Black's nozzles. Continue dipping till you about 10x if nothing comes out then change the water, make it warmer then dip the printhead for 5 seconds on the water soaked paper towel.
Let me know if this works. I have another solution get it working but it's going to take you a bit of time to find the parts to make it or find it.

Pgbk cartrige

Your printer works with the PGI-5BK cartridges, that are in fact just ink-tanks, the printhead being apart of the tanks, so if the cartridges are not empty, it cannot be because of them. It doesnt matter if you replace the cartridge, the problem is in the printhead.

If the problem occured just a while ago, you should consider that NOT PRINTING a long time (30 days) with a printer can lead to ink drying out in the printhead, clogging the nozzles. OK, now it comes: If you have some tehnical skills, you can remove the cartridge and desassembly the printhead (where the cartridge are in) and do the following:

Put a paper-tissue on a small plate (like a coffee-cup plate), then put some boiling water on it, just 2~3mm of water over the tissue.
Put the printhead with the nozzles part downside on the tissue, in the hot water.
Let it stay there in the water 30 min.
Put the cartridges back on the printhead (without installing it in the printer), rap it in an other clean tissue, than shake it strongy as if you want to force ink to get out trough the nozzles. Then clean gentle the nozzle part of the printhead on some sheets of tissue.
Get the cartridges again out of the printhead, install it in the printer, then install the cartridges again and run a few cleaning processes from the printers maintenance software.

It should work. If you dont have the tehnicall skills needed, Canon gotcha, or you can visit a local specialist to make all this for you, they usualy have better equipmens, as ultrasonic cleaners and special solvents that makes all this easyer.

Rate the solution if it helped you!

Thx.

Canon iP90 Printer Ink Issue

I have had the same issue with my iP90.  I think this results from the black ink nozzle becoming clogged.  I was able to get mine to print by cleaning the nozzles. To clean the print nozzles open the Canon IJ Printer Utility, select the printer from the list of available printers and click the maintenance button.  Then, select a cleaning or deep cleaning cycle.

Solution: Clean The Print Head Nozzles (Windows) MP500 / MP800
lean The Print Head Nozzles (Windows) The following contains instructions to check the nozzles for poor print quality and perform cleanings of the print head nozzles as necessary. If print results are faint or streaks are printed, the print head nozzles may be clogged. Those phenomena can be improved by performing print head cleanings or print head deep cleanings. nozzlecheckflow_en.jpg
