You have to go through a certain guide. Go to Tools > Installation guide for sound and video.
I have the Swedish version, so the translation may not be exact. But look for some kind of guide for installation of audio and video. Should do the trick.

Go to add/remove programs, to uninstall, Find messenger. When you try to uninstall messenger it will/should give you a "Repair" option, do that first. If that doesn't work, try a download of the latest version and try to install that. Else try link below.
It is a DRIVER issue. You DO NOT have the right driver for your webcam and Win7. Try the XP Drivers.
Here is how to Install them so they work.
Download your XP driver you wish to install. If it's in a zip/rar file then extract it to your desktop.
You should have a simple .exe file sitting on your desktop to install the drivers, as normal for XP.
Right click the .exe file and select "Properties".
Then select the tab called "Compatibility"
Now check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Make sure "Windows XP Service Pack 2" is highlighted.
Now apply the settings and run the installer.
This should work for most drivers, but not all
there could be the problem with registry keys conflicting with each other,
Tools > Audio and video setup...
Follow the instructions on the setup screen and once its finished, you will find that the webcam should be able to show up.
If it doesn't show the webcam on the other person, tell him to switch
his status to busy for 5 seconds and then back, hopefully that should
come up on the other persons screen.
If this hasn't work in most cases it should work - You will have to
downgrade to Windows Live Messenger 8.5 and hopefully it should work.
If this hasn't work, go to the HP website and search up webcam drivers
for your device and then install it on your computer - Hopefully your
webcam would work. if it does not work then you have to download reginout registry cleaner to fix this problem
tell her to properly set the webcam
1 tell her to install yahoo messanger and u also install it then create yahoo account both of u then log in with that account to yahoo messanger then plugin the webcam to see ur video then go to action menu on yahoo messanger and click on view my webcam then broadcast ur video. then properly configure ur audio as well as video settings in the yahoo messanger then u invite ur friend to view the cam she will be able to see u as well as u will be able to see her...... then enjoy ur big chatting hours... happy chatting
The clearest connection for webcam is not Yahoo, it's Windows live messanger--I'd definitely give it a try. you can get your Acer webcam (which actually is a logitech) working in two ways: bizarrely, sometimes you need to move all your photos to a new folder, leaving the original empty. if that doesn't work, try
reinstalling the original webcam sofware as follows: actually, first go to
control panel, then check out device
manager to see if you have any nasty big checks. If imaging devices has
a big check, try reinstalling the driver there. If that doesn't fixya,
click on Start, then Acer Empowering Technology, then Acer E-Recovery,
choose Restore Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab. It will
extract; then click Install for Vista or (XP) on the left - click
Drivers - Camera or CCD - on the right side of the screen for your
which you saw in device manager. you and your friends should set up Live Messanger per their directions--much clearere images, as i said. Please let me know if that doesnt do
