Question about Nikon Coolpix 3200 Digital Camera

1 Answer

The launch transfer stopped working after 3 year of use

I have been using my Nikon cool pix 3200 since 2004 on my XP and it has never given me a problem. During that time I have started using an IMPACT 1GB SD card; still no problem. My daugter has hooked up her Kodak camera; again no problem. All of a sudden it wont automaticlly upload when i hook up the camera. When i try to launch transfer manually it says: "There is no card in the connected camera or card reader." (I have gone through both process with and without card in camera. Made sure camera was off before starting each time. Made sure the USB setting was correct on camera) The only thing differant that I can think of is that I recently started working on a "my space site, changing background & adding animations etc. It changed my desk top wall paper and I wonder if it disabled my camera in some way. HELP! I love my camera and cant stand not being able to download pictures!

OK, well it seems that my daughters boyfriend diconnected my camera's USB cord from my computer and hooked up his and left it in the same spot that I keep mine for easy hook up. So I had hooked up the wrong cord! That would be pretty funny (since I spent 2 hours trying to trouble shoot a camera who's cord I CHECKED TO BE SURE IT WAS PLUGGED IN) except for the fact that now my USB cord will not go into my camera!!!! I guess it distorted the port on the camera in some way. I think Ill suggeste that I would like a card reader for mothers day. Think thats fair?

Absolutely! You might also check the orientation of the cord you are trying to plug into your camera -- it is easy to get them backwrds, and it might have gotten rotated from how you usually have it during all of the cord jostling.

I have reinstalled the Picture Project 1.7 disc for Cool Pix L4 and I still cannot get my computer to recognize the camera.

Picture Project was retired years ago, replaced by Nikon Transfer and Nikon ViewNX. You can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software from
http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Hello there, for transferring media from the memory card to your computer it is much better to remove the memory card from the camera slot and use a card reader as the operating system of your computer will detect it as new media found and you can easily drag and drop the files you want to utilize and will save battery on your camera as well.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
