Which error message(s) do you receive during the installation process? Please post the exact text. If possible, please indicate which operating system you are running. You should be able to locate the specifics by right-clicking the icon labeled "My Computer" that is located on your desktop and left-clicking "Properties" from the popup menu.

There may be a corrupt file still residing the the system registry from a previous installation. Download a free program called Revo Uninstaller (should be able to locate it at www.download.com). This program will remove all the files associated with Yahoo Messenger, and then you can try a clean installation from scratch. I hope this helps.

Once a program is uninstalled, it's removed from 'Add/Remove Programs'. To get Yahoo! Messenger back, download it from Yahoo! (Link) and install it.

Try deleting the yahoo messenger folder from the local hard drive "c:\Program Files", also scan your computer for viruses before re-installing Yahoo Messenger.

You have to clean yahoo completely off your system.
1. Uninstall yahoo with add/remove programs.
2.Open registry editor, make a backup of your registry.
3. Search through the registry for yahoo and delete all yahoo entries
4. reinstall yahoo messenger
5. sign into your yahoo mail account, and change your password

Reinstalling yahoo messenger or doing a system restore should solve the problem, try both ways.

My yahoo messenger did not opend

Go Start,Control Panel, Add/remove Programs. Click on Messenger,click remove. This should reinstate the older version. If not, Reboot and download it here;

Yahoo 8.1: http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html

9 messenger is in Beta (testing) form and not working well. Stick to 8.1 until they work out the Bugs. Including people using 8.1 trying to message ones with 9 or reverse they are having compatibility problems.

Flash player 10 Does have conflicts, and 9's latest update 9.0.124.0 Can have conflicts with Yahoo and
is causing some Yahoo services to not load.use the link below for a download of Flashplayer #9.0.115.0 should work as it's older then last update. You have to remove the present flash player,(add/remove programs in control panel). reboot then download the older version.

Downloading Programs with the new Windows Vista

You need a special version for Vista if it's not what you tried to install already. It can be found here:

http://messenger.yahoo.com/windowsvista.php

Vista also pops up annoying prompts to confirm every system change, which may cause problems. This is caused by User Access Control, and I can walk you through temporarily disabling it if you can't get the above version installed straight away.
