Computer will not turn on

I have an Emachine T5026. I shut it down last night but I cannot turn it back on. When I try to push (or push and hold) the power button absolutely nothing happens. Is this my power supply?

I looked and looked and saw nothing that would resemble an led light...I assume I would be able to see the unlit led light if there was one.

My computer won't turn on,so i looked inside near the power supply to the motherboard and seen a green light was on.what other problem could this be if not the power supply?

  • vah215 Mar 25, 2009

I have the same problem. No power but the led light is green. Now what?

  • vivbarnett Apr 30, 2009

Count me in. Turned off one night, not available the next day. I also have the green light. Of course, warranty has expired and from other sites, the pre-pay support is of no help.

Does anyone know if I can salvage the files in memory to a different computer?

Best way to check is to open your case. Near the power supply plug to the motherboard should be a little led light. If it is getting power to the board this light should be green. If it's unlit then most likely your power supply has gone bad. Hope this helps.

Yes you should be able to see it if lit. Usually it is near the main plug that runs from the power supply to the motherboard. It should be lit green if power is flowing between power supply & motherboard. Hope this helps.

In my opinion you have a faulty power supply, replacing only the fan may not solve your problem. Try replacing the power supply.

There can be two problems with your PC. either the power supply is faulty which is highly probable, and the other is that your Motherboard maybe faulty or both things are faulty. Try replacing the Power supply first. It should solve your problem.

I just had the same problem. Try replacing the battery on the motherboard, that seems to have fixed mine. The number on the battery is CR 2032.

When I turn on my machine, I get 3 beeps and my monitor tell me no signal, the model is a T5026 emachine, please email me any suggestions

Hello,

First use the following steps:

Turn off the system and disconnect power cables
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.
Reconnect power cables and try to turn it on.

If it remains same, the next step will be to:
Turn off the system and disconnect power cables
Open the case and re-seat memory modules

If you have more than one modules installed, try to test the system with a single module at a time.

How long are the beeps? If they are shortish then it suggests that the ram on your motherboard isnt working properly. Try removing it and reseating it. Make sure all the power is turned off before doing this.

Also there is a jumper located near the bios battery for resetting the bios. Move that to the clear position then back again after a minuter or so. That will put it back to default setting.

How did the problem start? Had you been adjusting anything in the bios at all?
