if trying to make copies warm up sign comes on then screen goes black and power lite begins to blink

  • Anonymous Mar 17, 2009

When I try to make a copy either through the automatic document feeder or by placing the original on the glass manually, the printer displays "Warming up" after the "copy" button is pressed. The copier never functions. It will stay in this state until the printer is powered down. I have left it that way for a day and the copy was never made.

When I try to scan, I get the error message that is is still warming up. This message will not go away. When I press other buttons it says 'busy', then back to 'warming up'. How can I fix this?

Try power cycling both devices.
  • Completely shut down the computer.
  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power chord at the back of the printer.
  • Turn on the computer.
  • Plug the power cable back in.
  • Turn on the printer.
If your still having issues w/ it. contact your manufacturer.
Good Luck :)

SolutionFollow the steps below to resolve the issue. Step one: Wait for the current task to complete
  1. This message appears while the unit performs a task. If a task was aborted while in progress, this message will remain on the display.
  2. Press Cancel or Stop to clear the message.
  3. If the error does not go away, proceed to the next step.
Step two: Reset the unit
  1. While the unit is on, remove the power cord from the rear of the unit AND the wall outlet.
  2. After one minute, reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the unit.
  3. If the unit does not turn on, press the On button.
  4. If the error does not go away, proceed to the next step
If this doesn´t work, release all cartridges, and turn on. After that put the cartridge on the printer one by one. Regards.

Might need a new printer. Lexmark printers can be troublesome.

Turn on printer and light continues to flash. Not

What the flashing light means
The Power light can flash for several reasons:

• The printer cover is open.
• The printer is out of paper.
• A problem exists with the printer, such as a paper jam or a problem with a print cartridge.

If an error message appears
Read the error message that explains the problem and its solution.

If no error message appears
Check the status of the printer by using the printer tools. To gain access to the tools, open the Printer Properties dialog box, click the Services tab, and then click the Service this device button.

Use the printer tools to perform the following tasks:
• View estimated ink levels.
• Clean the print cartridges.
• Calibrate the printer.
• Print a test page.
• Perform other functions as needed.

No response when printing or scanning

You have a bad scanner assy which will cost more to replace than a new printer.

WARMING UP LIGHT STAYS ON!!COPIER WILL NOT WORK??

Hi, it sounds like your firmware is corrupt. Have you tried rebooting the device by switching it off/on. Use the main switch inside the front door.
Failing that, you'll need to reload the firmware, an engineer will easily be able to do this

See if this works:

Turn computer off
  1. Power off the printer.

  2. Close all printer covers and doors.

  3. Hold down the uparrow.jpg and downarrow.jpg (up arrow and down arrow) buttons on the printer and power the printer on.

  4. Release your fingers from the buttons when the message Diagnosing... appears.

  5. When Customer Mode and ESS Diag display, press the downarrow.jpg (down arrow) button until Test Print appears, and then press the select (center) button.

  6. Press the downarrow.jpg (down arrow) button until ContaminationChk appears, and then press the select (center) button twice.
