Question about Polaroid i832 Digital Camera

1 Answer

CRACKED SCREEN dropped my camera and when i turn it on the screen looks cracked and it white! it looks broken on the inside. I have a polaroid i830. One day i dropped it on the floor, and it doesn't work now. If i push the power button on, the power light comes on, but the screen and everything stays off. I also can't get the light to turn off unless I take out the batteries. The screen appears to have a crack. Is there any way to fix it before spending to get a new one ??

You cannot repair the broken LCD screen; the white you are seeing is the backlight for it. LCDs have extremely thin gold deposits along one edge that is contacted by a silicone rubber strip that has fine wires molded into it vertically and one edge is pressed against the LCD panel for contact. It is a fussy arrangement when new and it sure doesn't get any better when dropped.
I wouldn't delay too long looking for parts or repair; Polaroid filed for bankruptcy last week although I doubt if the parent had anything to do with the manufacture of your camera; as with many companies with limited manufacturing means, the camera was surely built by others.

The screen is cracked. Im trying to remove so i can replace the screen with a new one. So far i took the front and back part off the camera. the problem i have now is how exactly do i remove the screen?...

?The connector on the ribbon cable has a lock on it., Just use a small screwdriver and gently pry it up, it will pivot an release the ribbon cable so you can replace the screen. Be sure and lock it back when you put in the new screen.

I have a polaroid I830. The display screen is broken. How can I get this fixed?

Polaroid offers in warranty and out of warranty service. There are also camera shops with in-house repair people. If you'll give me your zip code, I'll try to help you find someone close to your area.
