Question about IBM IntelliStation Z Pro 6221 PC Desktop
I just purchased a Intellistation with no software, I have been reading that you can only install Raid 1 on it. I have 2 SCSI 40GIG Drive running on the "LSI Logic SCSI driver version 1.09.06s for MS XP". I do not need the backup system of Raid 1, I would much rather have the 80GIG raid system of Raid 0. Is anyone running a Raid controler that allows Raid 0 on this machine? This is a learning experience I'm familiar with raid, but not in detail, so go slow, my dad taught me to much information is better than not enough.
That particular work station comes with both IDE and SCSI drive interface controllers. The IDE drive should be used for your OS. The SCSI drives for your data storage. Now, the issue is to get the SCSI to work in RAID_0 as I understand.
You iwll need a RAID controller such as Adaptec AHA-3940AU WD SCSI Host Controller, which may be found on eBay (used) for a very affordable price. The driver software may be downloaded directly from Adaptec, so I suggest you do that in the iterim peroid, and store drivers on a USB thumb drive.
Hope this helps you.
