Re: power out

See if you can find a electrical shematic. I would be looking at the door lock. See if you have power going too it. Look for any fuse devices. look listen and smell?? great set of tools??

Fills with water, drains, will not spin. sometimes will not fill

This is almost certainly the filter to the empty pump blocked. When you power up the machine, the first thing it does is make sure there is no water left over in the tub, if it can't evacuate any water it finds there, it won't go any further. Same on a spin, if after a set time the water hasn't emptied the empty cycle will stop but the spine cycle wont start because there is still water in the drum.

Locate and clean your empty pump filter.

My washing machine (Hitachi SF-P80CJ) stops at the rinse cycle and won't proceed any further. It leaves the clothes sitting in water. I have tried re-starting it and have run several cycles but the problem...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters.

Here are my complete, general pre-typed guidance notes for checking both the filter and the motor ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob.

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Filter is full. I tried opening it and now it's

Did you remove the filter completely and clean it before replacing it? The filter assembly has to be pulled out of the machine and cleaned - if you just unscrewed it partially and then tried to screw it back it may not be seated correctly.

If you would like further advice then respond to this message by adding a comment, and I will offer further assistance.

Washer door will not open. washer just making humming noise

Hi there,
OE-pump blocked. Disconnect the power before attempting any work. Use of an RCD (plug in power breaker) is recommended.
Disconnect pump from sump hose and check for obstruction in either item. Pump removal: power off, remove cover, locate pump, (attached to other end of drain pipe).undo 2 wiring connections, 2 hose connections, and pump mounting screws. Remove pump chamber - some are held in with screws, others clip into place. Check for foreign objects round the impeller. If pump chamber is clear, may be a fault with the pump motor - in which case, replace.
Also check the filter - generally located behind a panel at the foot of the machine. Some are obvious like little square hatches and some are hidden behind the trim panel at the foot of the machine. Once panel is removed the filter should be visible. Its generally a circular plastic fitting which unscrews in an anticlockwise direction. Some hotpoint, indesit and ariston filters are located in the big black sump hose (the one that leaves the bottom of the outer drum and connects to the pump). Remove the back cover, locate hose, remove the tensioner clip by squeezing the tabs together, remove the hose, take out filter and clean.

post further comment for more help....

Fast spin

IF the tub is spinning at high speed but the water is not draining fully. then you need to remove the filter and pump assembly and look for more blockage further past the filter/pump.
its not hard to do just a screw or 2 and a 2 clamps.
be certain that there are not some clothing or debris above the filter too , pull the door rubber back and explore around under the tub.
and be certain that the impellers on the pump move freely and are not broken. you need a flashlight.
disconnect the power because of the water present.
its only little work ,the pump comes apart easily.
