I have followed the instruction on how to set the date (lost instructions so used the one's for the different system posted here) but it keeps saying error. I can't figure it out. Selected 12 and the 24 hour and still get error. Tried resetting and still error. ANy suggestions? What a pain this system is.

To set the date and time stamp on pictures, Follow the given instructions: Setting Date and Time:
First of all set the exact and time if your camera:
Press the "Menu" button on the camera and use the right navigation button to choose the "Set Up" menu.
Scroll down to "Date/Time" and press the ""Func./Set" button. The set
date and time will appear on the screen, and the month unit will flash.
Adjust the month unit by pressing the up or down navigation buttons.
Move to the day unit by pressing the right navigation button. Use the
same instructions to adjust each unit of the date and time.Push the "Func./Set" button to save the time and date settings.

I was unable to find any instructions on their web site, so if you haven't got the instructions, then I suggest you try ringing them on one of the numbers below. (You might ask them for a set of instructions as well as how to solve your problem).
Press the calendar/clock button
Hold the M+= button until the first digit of the date/time begins to blink
Set the time using this format- hh:mm
Set the date using this format- dd:mm:yyyy,
July 15, 08=15:07:2008 (I got this step wrong thinking the format was mm:dd:yyyy)
Press the M+= button again.
