it does not seem to be turning red.it is just dimming and is not crisp and clear. i had to turn up brightness to watch it. my son tried to play a video game and could hardly see where he was going.

i took the lamp out to clean in that area to eliminate a possible dust problem and i saw a whiteish burn look on the glass just above the element and the lamp looked a little hazy.

Is the picture becoming redish? If it becomes redish, then its the bulb. If not, it could be something else.

Ok, so it could be both then. Um if u open up the monitor, then u should see a small chip at the bottom of the lcd. This is called the Inverter. You might have to replace that. I would take it down to any local computer shop, they usually have tools to test it, and see if its broken. unles u just wana replace it, i think they average around 40$ u can simply unplug the old one, and plug a new one in, but it wont be 100% guarantied that. could be a bad installation of your new lamp aswel.

Our picture seems very dark, We got a new lamp installed about 8 months ago and have played with the colors etc but after awhile the picture just goes darker. any sugestions?

There should be a setting for the dynamic contrast ratio(or backlite setting on some tvs). Turning the dynamic contrast ratio off should make the screen brighter. This is usually called the DCR setting, turn it to off.

Tv brightness/vibrant

Most of the projection lamps are recommended to be replaced after 2 years. The older they get the more dim they will become. I would suggest replacing the lamp again. Some of the aftermarket lamps do not work as well as the factory replacement. I always spend the extra money and get one from Samsung.

Picture is dark

Adjust video settings:
  1. Press Wega Gate
  2. Select Settings
  3. Highlight Video
  4. Press + to select
  5. Adjust/increase the brightness.
  6. Press Wega gate to exit.
If picture is still dark, you need to replace the lamp again. Sony recommends that you replace the lamp:
  1. After approximately 8,000 hours of use.
  2. When the screen becomes dark or the color becomes unusual.
  3. When the lamp indicator on the front of the TV flashes.

Dark picture!

The Lamp it self, the Ballast, or the Power Supply that powers the Ballast. Even a combination of the Lamp and Power Supply is a common problem. If you have not replaced the Lamp since you have owned the set I would replace that first. The Lamp has about a 3000 to 5000 hour life span.
Hope this helps,

Tv will not turn on

For dark picture I need to ask one question, How long ago you replaced its lamp? one year, two years?

Picture brightness is depends on lamp in LCD rear projection (DLP) TVs and if lamp got weak in generating light, you will see dark picture.

I would recommend to replace lamp and buy Sony original lamp from Sony Accessories Store.

Required lamp part number is as follows..
F93087500 LAMP BLOCK ASSY XL-2400
and price is $200
Good luck.
