You will have to get a new mitsu remote in order to make the adjustment. Most universal remotes are made to just do basic functions, unless you start getting into nice sony touchscreen remotes but then they cost 100 by themselves.
the remote to a mitsubishi wd55513, wd65513 etc will also work on this set, I have done it before.

I don't have the remote for a Samsung rear

Go looking for a used remote--I have one I hang onto for just convergence alignments on their sets--no universal will cut this.

The original remotes among other things had a data button to save the adjustments.

Where are the covergence controls in ws55809 tv located

All convergence adjustments on this set are done with the original remote control--you will find the CONVERGENCE in the customer menu---if set will not adjust there you have a circuit problem.

I have fixed hundreds of these sets--if it will not adjust let me know and I can tell you what is needed to fix it.

Color is off on my tv im seeing colored shadows how do i reset that without a remote

YOU need a Mitsubishi remote to do any convergence adjustments--if convergence is skewed or bad it is most likely it will not adjust back.

WS-55809 uses two of the STK-392-570 CONVERGENCE CHIPS--95% chance both will need to be replaced and the set adjusted with the remote.

If you can do this you can save a lot of money and the set---most shops are going to get at least 300 for this kind of repair---you can buy a pair of the chips on Ebay for under 13 dollars plus shipping.

I HAVE STEP BY STEP, START TO FINISH INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOING THIS REPAIR ON THIS MODEL--IF you think you or someone you know can do it let me know and I will post the instructions here for you.

This is a common problem on ALL projection sets--the chips have a metal back and are mounted on a large metal heat sink on the middle board--a white grease--heat sink compound is applied to the back of each chip to move heat quickly to the metal and after several years from the heat it has dried out and one of the chips goes instantly.

If the set is repaired it will not have this problem for 5-8 more years----lifespan on these chips.

If you need help let me know and if this information has helped you, rate this solution as I DO THIS HERE FOR FREE.

Distorted picture

Your TV most likely has a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.
