Hello, I have a Sony KV-36XBR450 36" TV, and heard that it was "HD" ready but needed an upgrade. at this point I would like to know it that upgrade is still available and if so does, does...

Hi,

Your KV36XBR450 is HD ready which means that you will need a set top box to receive the HD signal. Comcast will provide this for you naturally at an additional expense. Your other option would be to purchase a set top box and use and OTA (over the air) antenna which will allow you to receive your local broadcasts in HD.

I am sorry, however i have no heard about upgrade for this set. There is nothing available even with Sony.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Sony kv36xbr450 - menu screen comes on and off by it self. It's not remote control. I checked. How can I fix that?

HI
This may be due to a faulty A Board, one way to verify is to disconnect the keypad from the main board and check if this is still happening, if so then the A-board is the problem, this is the board with the microprocessor is on, The micro processor may be faulty. you can try resetting the unit back to factory default by starting with the tv power off then hit the DISPLAY button on the remote then Number 5 , then Volume down then power button, you have to do this all within 5 seconds or it will not work. Once you are in the service hit the number 8 key to reset, TV will shut down and come back on by itself and be on channel 3. Any setting you may have set will be erased and the unit will be back to factory as when you brought it,. IF this does not help then consider replacing the A board. It my not be avaiable any more in which case time for a new TV..

Trying to hook up Phillips DVD player and have 3 coaxial cables that need to be hooked into Sony TV and I have 14 holes for cables-help!

Don't use co-axial cables buy HQ SCART Gold Plated Ribbon cables with full 21pins then hook up the AV out of the DVD player into one of the AV in on the TV.

When you turn your player on it will autoselect the correct AV (audio visual) channel on the TV.

Dvd/vcr hook up to sony tv, not playing picture on sony tv

The simplest is Video out an the DVD to Video in on TV, Yellow, red and white. If the TV has component input this is better. That is Green, blue and red for the video plus red and white for the audio.

Sony KV36XBR450 - no sound

Hi!

Check for the cables to the cable box/reciever. What type of cable are you using for connection with the cable box(HDMI,RCA component cables)? Your tv is fine as it is working with the dvd player. The issue is with the cables connecting the cable box or from the cable company. Call them to get more information about this issue(maybe weak signals)

Please ask for further clarifications.

Please rate this solution as Fixya if found useful.

Thanks

KV36XBR450 Sony

There are two identical IC's I think they are 18 pin more or less about half way up the board on the left side in the power supply. You will know them when you see them. They may be bad. It is a common problem on that model. If this helps let me know.

TV monitor will not respond when hooking up VCR/DVD player.

If you have all the cables connected correctly, then you need to select the proper input using your remote control.
Normally you're probably in the "tuner" mode. You need to select the A-V mode so that the signal will come into your set VIA the A-V input jacks. If you have more than one A-V input port, you ned to select the one to which your VCR/DVD is connected.

"No Signal"

Might need a tuner, I suspect if you arent seeing any snow/static you probably need to press the tv/video button untill you get the ANT input.
