Use a windows 98 floppy statup disk and type fdisk enter yes yes again then delete and formatted partitions created new partition do not exceed 34 gigs for fat part. reboot type format c: after format is complete use xp disk and delete the partition you just created and let windows take over
if you cannot access the drive at all with fdisk you may need to repair the mbr on the hard drive if this is the problem write back
