Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer
I have this printer error: 09, 038, 46: 15112 on my screen. i've tried unplugging the machine but to no avail. i have no idea what the actual problem is, nor the circumstances surrounding the problem as i've not been in the office in several days.
anyone have an idea what to do?
Yep. One of your ink sticks is stuck in the ink loader and not advancing down to the bottom of the ink loader.
Look where you add the sticks, I think off hand that .46 means its a black stick, but anyway, one stick is broken, cracked, twisted or otherwise for some reason not sliding down the loader.
If you have to remove them, take a screw, a drywall screw is best to twist into the ink block and slide it back and out to reload.

Manually verify that the ink stick is able to advance in the ink loader chute. Check for broken or wrong type ink cubes.
