Question about RCA HDLP50W151 50" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Humming sound i recently bought an AKAI dlp tv from a friend and its making this humming sound while the tv is on. it wasnt making this sound at his house, after i brought it to my house then i turned it on and it started making the sound. i was told it was the colour wheel, could it just be knocked off???, and if so how do i put it back on. i was also told that it could just be an electric problem with my other componets.

The old color wheel on models pre 06 have bearings. The new replacement dosn't. The noise you here is the bad bearing. Mine got so loud I couldn't take it anymore. Just replace and noise is gone! I did mine myself. Not that hard.

Why does my magnavox 52 inch dlp make a fairly loud humming noise for 10 minutes or so after turning the tV on? It gradually get quieter.

It is likely a bad fan that gets quiter as it warms up from use. There are two fans on that TV - one under the bulb housing and one at the left vent hole. They are special fans with three leads - +, - and an RPM indicator (yellow lead typically).

Good sound no picture

I have the same TV. On the back of the TV there is a square panel. Unscrew the six screws (the panel is on the opposite side of the inputs, I used needle nose plyers) after you take the panel off (make sure the tv is unplugged) you will see a black "housing" with two stainless steel screws. Unsrew those two screws and pull out the housing. there will be 4 screws to take off (uses a special tool called a T-8 TROX screwdriver and replace bulb. BE CAREFUL for this TV there is 2 different bulbs. If your serial number ends in a J you need a different bulb then if it ends in a Z (serial number is on the back of the tv in the middle) I recommend shopping www.nextdaydlp.com as they clearly label there bulbs, plus they are cheap!

How to change out blub

panel on the back of tv, opposite side of inputs. 6 screws takes a special screwdriver. I used needle nose plyers. once in the back, unscrew 2 stainless steel screws to take out black housing. www.nextdaydlp.com has your bulb. make sure you have the serial number off the back of your TV at the end of your serial number you will find either a Z or J. DONT GET THE WRONG BULB! taking the bulb out of the housing is different. you can either take a drill with a small bit to get the nuts out, or purchase the screwdriver called a T-8 TROX screwdriver.

Akai PT50DL24 50 in DLP Rear Projection TV-NO PIC OR SOUND

check for popped or raised tops on caps in power supply. also try unplugging set for 5 minutes and resetting it. How about does your color wheel spin up? if your color wheel don't startup then your tv will also shut down. also check all fans they all should be running at turn on. if all fails i would say its your light engine.

I have a viore monitor ipt46dl30 which just went black but we can still hear the voice.. help?

I'm in the process of ordering a replacement bulb for a friends set right now. The information below is exactly what's needed to get the correct bulb for this DLP television.

TV Make: Viore

TV Model: IPT46DL30 (Confirmed to be on TV label)

Bulb/Lamp Model: SHP70 (This number is right at the top of the bulb/lamp, where the wires connect)

Housing Model: 140-1027 (This is also known as the Ballast which houses the bulb/lamp)

Now, I've managed to locate the bulb/lamp from a few different sites. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a reputable manufacturer making aftermarket bulbs for this DLP model. The original bulb type is all we have to look forward to. The cheapest price that I've found so far is $120.00. I have also found these particular bulbs for as high as $295.00. Needless to say, I'm going with the former.

http://www.replacementlightbulbs.com/lampshp70.html - $120.00 (Buying)

http://purelandsupply.com/140-1027-Bulb-Akai-DLP-TV-Lamps.html - $277.90 (Too much)

http://www.encompassparts.com/products/?140-1027 - $295.00 (Too much & very skeptical)
