Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

A horizontal line is visible in the middle of the monitor which cuts the data. I have purched the laptop yesterday. When I make the laptop stand by and use again the line is not visible. Please let me know whether this is a manufacturing defect or can be solved.

Hi, sorry, what is "purched" mean? usually trouble comes LCD cable/cable plugs/sockets also at motherboard side, it could be dirty or temp disconnect, it is not easy to check and repair if you are not Engineer, due to easy to damage other component.
Only less defect by manufactory that is LCD panel board inside which you have to send warranty repair or change LCD panel.
you may try if you have experience of computer engineering:
1)open LCD panel cover check the cable to LCD rear socket, take out the plug and clean them using small brush then put it back.test it if trouble again do follow step:
2)open laptop up cover beside keyboard to find out where the LCD cable plug is and plug the cable out and in, test it if trouble again, do next
3) check all LCD cable from line to line between two plugs.
Important do all steps carefully.

Monitor suddenly goes black with alternating horizonal lines, some thin some wide. Shut off for a while and now the picture is very washed out.

there are 2 parts involved in horizontal lines. videocard and LCD. if this is a desktop just diconnect the data cable from computer and check if the LCD self test will appear also check if you still see the lines, if lines are not visible in the self test definitely its your videocard taht you need to replace.

Try reseating the LCD cable to the video card. If no change, then you will most likely need a replacement LCD (Roughly $150 on EBay)

Line across middle of screen and series of lines below that overlaying whats active on the monitor. It's a new 23 inch acer

Your screen is made up of layers in which gas is trapped. whenever any side of the screen gets cracked it may not be visible with naked eye. The gas gets released and you get a horizontal straight line blue or black. Initially it starts with a thin line and as the gas releases it keeps on getting broader. If your acer is on warranty try to replace it or else you will have to replace it out of your own pocket.
