Try this, turn the unit upside down and let it sit for 30 minutes, then turn right sidfe up and let it sit for the same time. Then turn it back oin aand it should work fine. What you are doing is burping the unit(getting the ammonia to all come back together) Thanks for visiting this site.

What is a thermoelectric cooler?

A thermoelectric wine cooler contains a cooling node. When an electric current passes through the node the outside of the tile heats up and the inside of it cool down.

The system will not cool and want to replace the refrigeration parts, all else seams to be working fine

I have a Cuisinart Model CWC900 wine cooler that stopped cooling -- the cooling module is bad.

The FIX.

1. First remove the filler plugs from the screw access holes. I did this by tapping the plug off center with a small screwdriver and a small hammer. The plugs popped right out.

2. Use a #10 Torx driver to remove the screws from the holes.

3. The chip on my cooler was a TEC1-12708 made by HB. The part # was on the chip. I found the chip information by doing a Google search on the part #.

4. I found a replacement chip from Custom Thermoelectric. The part # to replace the chip in my cooler was P/N 12711-5L31-09CQ. Cost is about $20. You should specify that the chips that you order should be 'Sealed'. The lady that I spoke with said that the chips last about two years. The people at Thermoelectric were very helpful and appeared to be very knowledgeable.

5. You should apply heat-sink grease to both sides of the chip before installing the chip.

I hope that this helps.

I have a thermoelectric wine cooler (heintzman DC2-40C) that no longer cools as it

Thermoelectric devices (or modules) require direct current (DC) for operation. Alternating current (AC), the form of electricity found in wall outlets, causes a thermoelectric device to alternate between heating and cooling, rendering it effectively useless. "Ripple" is the AC component of DC current and occurs when a power supply does not completely convert AC current to DC current.
You just might want to find out why the AC is not turning to the DC required, This could be a matter of chaning outlet plug or maybe the Ower pack that coverts the AC to DC.

Have had this for 4 years, works great. Blades have stopped moving though still rotate smoothly by hand.

The problem could be with the thermoelectric module. You can easily test if this is the case by trying to run the fan off of any household battery. If the fan works off the battery then the problem is definitely with the thermoelectric module.

They are easily replaced by taking the two halves of the fan body apart. Just be sure to use CPU heat sink compound (thermal grease) on both sides of the new module before you reassemble the fan.

You can get the peltier modules from Thermal Enterprises by contacting them through email to or searching for Ecofan Repair on eBay. The CPU heat sink compound (thermal grease) is available at any "Best Buy", "Radio Shack" or electronics store.

Hope this helps.

(1.7 cu) Chefmate Fridge Doesn't Get Cold

The Chefmate 1.7 fridge uses a thermalelectric device (TED) to provide cold air. There are no moving parts there. The problem is usually in the power supply. That is the PCB on the left side behind the back cover. If the fans are running then your thermostat is bad or the TED is cracked. You can buy these ebay or other places on line. To change one you must carefully remove the large heat sink. The TED itself is only about two inches square. If you decide to replace this unit be sure to get a supply of heat sink glue. Otherwise you will end up with a hot (or cold) spot on the TED possitly causing another crack.

I am not getting water thou the ice maker nor the water dispenser

Check the water valve where the water supply line comes into your frig. If you are not getting any water at all then it seems as though there is no water getting to the frig through the water supply line or the water valve is bad or not getting any voltage to work properly.
