Water line to the water dispenser has rotted; best way to replace

I currently have the water on, but the disabled the valve to the water dispenser. This way I can make ice.

I need to know the best method for replacing the entire water line that serves the water dispenser on the door.

This is for a Whirlpool Conquest side by side.

Take and get a coulpling at the hardware stoe that is real tight inside of the tubing and then you can either gently pull the new line into the door after removeing the inside of the refrigerator and getting to the access to the back side of the ice and water controls and replace the tunbing. have a quick connect for the coupling at the bottowm of the freever door so that all you have to do is uncoiuple it and remove the door. Be careful not to pinch the tubing when you remove the door ever. Good Luck and you can ask me more questipons here at FixYa. Please don't forget to rate this solution fo hte answer please. Happy Neew Year!!!

I have a whirlpool gold refrigerator, it is still making ice but no water coming out of water dispenser? Filter has been checked ok any answers?

Hello Jane

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.
The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable.

My Kenmore side by side fridge #596.55669500 is leaking through the water outlet in the door. Not constantly but often enough to be a problem. What could cause this and is it something I can repair myself?

If its dripping water mostly after using Changing the water solenoid in the back will fix the problem, Thats the blue valve on the back that is connected to the water supply line.
If its turning on intermittently and dispensing water you may have to replace the control board for the dispenser.
Its either hard water causing the fill valve(Solenoid) to not close all the way or an electrical current opening the valve .

The water dispenser stopped dispensing.

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , turn on the dispensor light for several hours , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .
If the water line in the door is frozen , GE has a dispensor heater which comes with instructions to install . Pt # WR49X10173 .

Hi The ice and water dispenser stopped working.

The first thing I would check is the plug eather under the plastic hinge cap on top of the door hinge or behind the grill at the bottom hinge to see if it hasn't come loose.
I would check to see if when you push the switch if there is current going to the water inlet valve located at the rear of the frig.
Shut the water off for the frig and disconect the line from the water inlet valve. Put the end of the hose into a pail and turn it on to see if you have good water flow to the valve.
If you have current (120 Volts) at the valve and still no water going through the valve, replace the inlet valve.

Side by side Frigidaire. The water dispenser

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad.

Water dispenser does not dispense water. the ice will dispense But any ideas would be appreciated and i am not the best fix-er-upper but can understand easy and simple steps. Model number of fridge is (GE...

Several possibilities. Clogged water filter (can be eliminated if you dump the ice bucket..if it makes two more batches of ice it's not the filter). Frozen water container (behind lower refrigerator drawers) or bad fill valve behind the refrigerator where the water line goes in. Likeliest is water valve.

Final possibility is a frozen water line inside freezer door. This would NOT be desired nor would you be fixing it yourself. Good Luck.

Kitchen aid refrigerator water dispenser does not dispense water. the ice will dispense, and there is no filter for the water, so i would assume no clogging is the issue. But any ideas would be appreciated...

could be a few things. fist, when you call for water, listen for a very faint "hum" noise, if you do hear that, it is either the solonoid on the valve, or the reserve tank in the frige froze. easy way to check. pull the frige out and un-plug from power. on the back of the unit is a cover on the bottom, remove cover. the valve is on the far right as your looking at it. it has 2 solonoids on it. there are two plastic water lines on the bottom of the valve, i believe the one on the left is for ice maker, and the right one goes to door dispenser. remove the water line going to the door dispenser and put a cup under the valve. plug in frige and call for water at the door for couple seconds, check to see if water came out of valve into cup in back. if it did, the valve is ok, if no water, replace valve. they run about $50. if you didnt hear the hum i talked about, and the valve is ok, let me know and i can walk you through checking and replacing the switch in the dispenser. good luck, shane

The frigde stopped dispensing water. I replaced the inside the fridge water filter, but it still doesn't dispense water. The ice maker is ok so it's getting water. Any ideas on what I can try next?

OR
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad.

The water dispenser is not working. It buzzes, but nothing comes out. The filter has needed replacing for a while. Will it eventually shut down until I replace the filter?

i would change filter and see if it takes.if not then your water valve could be bad.if you hear it humming it should be calling for water.also check lines to water valve to see if their are any dry rotted spots, you will have to pull ref. out and take back cover off and you will see the valve.the tubing is what you want to check.have someone push for water and see if their is a leak, but try filter first.
