Thanks for the reply, I tried the site but still no luck, the system says it is working ok, i've tried everything like cables, all the ovious stuff. Is it worth a registry cleaner or do you think it'd be money better spent taking it to tech guys perhaps? Thanks again for your reply ;-)

Don;t give up yet. I think the regestery cleaner woudl be a waist of you time and money. Their are plenty of frre one out ther that work just find but I don't believ that to be your problem. If you don;t mind , try this:
Start -  right click mouse on My Computer - Properties - Hardware - Device manager - Sound Video and game control or Sound. Tell me what drivers you have and hopefully what sound card you have. Else look into the computer and read the name and model off of the sound card itself. Worth a shot.

How do I get sound?

Do you have a separate sound card installed or is it built into the motherboard? If it a card, go to the manufactures site and get the latest drivers. If it's built into the mb, go to the computer manufacturers site and search in support for the model of pc that you have. Make sure the speaker icon at the bottom right isn't X'd out meaning it's disabled or muted.

I re install the window but there is no sound from pc

I am assuming that you have external speakers connected to the pc, check that they are connected properly for power and that they are plugged into te green socket on the pc. Then check your volume settings to see if it is turned down or muted

Hope this helps

Sound not working anymore. Tried reinstalling sound card driver but still not workingmr

You say you had previously had audio so this should fix it. Go to the control panel click on sound and audio devises and check you have not muted it.
If it's not muted right click my computer. Properties. Hardware. Device manager. Check you have no yellow asterisks next to any of the sound, video and game controllers, if you have right click and uninstall. Reboot the system wizard should find new hardware and reinstall the driver correctly.
It's got to be the driver or it's muted the only other thing is the card is faulty and I doubt that as it's built into the motherboard and you would have other problems if that was down.

Sound is not working

There are some possible reasons why the sound is not working. It could be the volume control is in "MUTE", or the right sound card is not selected in the volume properties, or the speaker is defective.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Try to connect an external 2-channeled PC speaker. The computer should recognize the speaker and the sound should be transferred to the PC speaker. If the sound works on the PC external speaker, then you know that the volume control is NOT in mute and the sound card is selected. It means also that the built-in speakers could be defective.

2. If the same problem occur after connecting an external PC speaker, check the volume control, and make sure that the "MUTE" box is not checked. Then adjust the master volume.

* If everything's properly configured, but there's still no sound, check the volume properties under the Control Panel. Be sure that the correct sound card driver is selected. If that did not help, try to re-install the sound card driver.

* And the last option, contact the manufacturer and have them fix it for you.

Thank you and good luck!

My system sound not working my motherboard series---Socket 775 LGA motherboard model---O.E.M what i do

1. You may have lost the drivers for the sound card. If you have the mother board driver CD you can reload the sound card driver via the "device manager" in Windows.
2. Check also if you don't have any of the sound outputs muted in the "volume mixer" at the task bar icon for the sound ( the speaker icon).

I lost the sound on my computer

click on start then RIGHT click on my computer(xp) or computer (vista/7) then click on manage then click on device manager on the top of left of the computer management screen.

On the top right window will appear a list of all devices on your computer. Check that the sound card has no yellow exclamations marks on it and that it is functioning correctly. If you see a error with it then simply right click on it and click uninstall or remove. Restart the pc and see if it works if it still isnt functioning correctly you should go to hp and download the audio drivers for your pc

they can be found here

let me know if this helps

I have no sound coming from my pc

Hi, Ok so is your sound a built in part of your motherboard or do you have a separate sound card.

Have you been able to check the device in your device manager?

To do this go to "Start" then to "Control Panel" or "Settings" then to "System". A window will pop up with several "Tabs" across the top. Choose "Hardware" and at the top of that page click on "Device Manager" scroll down till you see where it lists your "Sound" devices. If you have a yellow alert symbol or a red exclamation symbol then there is either a clash or an error with the driver for the sound device.
If you have the installation disc you can re-install the driver which should fix your problem.

If there are no errors in the "Device Manager" then there would be some other problem, possibly the device has failed, if it is on board (built in to the motherboard) then the easiest sloution is to buy a separate sound card and install that. If it is already a card then replacing it is still the option.

Another thing, and this may sound silly but is often the case, have you checked that nobody has accidentally "Muted" your sound? Down in the bottom righthand corner of your screen you should have a small speaker icon. If you click it, it will open your volume control which at the bottom has a mute box that should be unticked. If it is ticked then all your sound will be muted.

Another silly things also is to check your speakers make sure all cables and power is ok and that the volume is up and not down.
Please don't be offended I have to ask the dumb questions to eliminate what might be a very simple problem and you would be amazed what some people do by accident.

Please let me know how you go and if I can be of further assistance at all. If you do not have a driver then that is usually not a problem we can find them we just need to know what type of device you have ok.
