Your current software version of the TV may be out of date, contact your LG dealer as this might have to be updated, older software can give this effect. If your incoming signal from an aerial source is weak then this can also cause problems the strength of signal can also be checked at the same time.

Try to check your cables connected at the back of your tv. some of them may be broken or loosed.

Can you change channels on the TV itself when this happens? If so, change the batteries in the remote.

Hi, I'm unfamiliar with televisions being able to use hard disk drives but iwould suspect you used a PC to format it. So you may want to try another format, the two are i believe FAT32 and NTFS-I suspect the latter is the newer so try that . Sorry i maybe couldn't be of more assistance, I hope this helps, Prodzilla.

Can i replace the harddisk of my samsung DVD HR750? do i need some additional files?

Hi, I just did exactly that.
Tried a lot of things and then hit on a workable solution.

Prerequisites: Old diskdrive is still working. (Let's assume you want to put in a larger disk, I did 160GB -> 200GB, but larger still should not be a problem.)
Take out the disk and connect it to a Linux PC (I used a cheap PATA-USB bridge).
Make sure it does not automount and somehow write to it.

Then check the MBR and you will see that it uses some sort of FAT16/32 Microsoft filesystem. In my case the first partition started at sector 32.

I copied the first sectors before the filesystem to the new disk using dd

dd if=/dev/sdd of=/dev/sde bs=512 count=32
(where sdd is the old disk and sde is the new)

Now the new bigger disk has the same partitioning as the old.
(I could also dd over the whole partition but that did not allow me to use more space on the bigger new disk)

Now plugging it back into the DVR leads to the machine sneakily doing this: Adjust the partitioning to use the whole space and format a new larger partition with its version of the FAT filesystem.

Done.
I have not figured out how to copy over the old films while still ending up with a larger disk.

The filesystem itself seems to be a modified FAT32 filesystem. Filesystem checkers show logical errors while the DVR box is fine with it.

It looks like it needs some magic from the first couple of sectors to do its thing and reformat the drive. (Turning it on it had a lot of disk activity and at some stage it turned itself off and on.)

Hi. i have a LG lcd 37" flat screen t.v. In the

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately, your TV does not have any hard-disk recording facilities built in. The reason for the "Record" option in the menu is that some other LG TVs share common hardware and software with your TV. This means they all have the same menu options but on some TVs certain options have no function or are disabled, e.g. the "Record" option on your TV.

If you want to record TV programmes, you will need to buy an external device with hard-disk recording facilities.

Hope this helps.

WelcomeCustomer

My Name is John,

This is a common issue with any and all DVRs the only problem you have is it is built into your TV, which is really cool until something like this happens. The HDD problem detected is caused by a defective hard drive in the set, now there is nothing particularly special about the hard drive built in, it is a OEM sata drive and honestly any old OEM sata drive will work in the set however, the size is not set by the size of the drive but the software, so if you buy a larger drive it will not matter because the set will only use 160gb any space above that and the set will ignore the information. It is best to use the drive provided by LG as it is designed to run at a high temp and is much low sound out put than a standard hard drive, it is a commercial drive not a home user. most drive are designed to operate at 85 degrees the one they use in this set is made for dvrs and is designed to operate at 105 degrees and is designed to run in a consistant on condition which means the orginal drive will last longer than an off the self replacement.

If you want to order the original 6744b91953a you can find online on most part sites. www.encompassparts.com www.partstore.com www.mcmelectronics.com www.hermanelectronics.com www.partsearch.com bestbuy.partsearch.com

The ticking you are hearing is the hard drive trying to run,but unable to spin up this is very common with DVR unit to have this type of failure, on TIVOS it causes constant reboots on motorola boxes it causes no power.

In any case the repair is to replace the drive, which means if you have any stored videos they are lost in some cases if you take the drive to a local computer shop they maybe able to recover some of the lost files but the cost can be quite expensive the cheapest i have seen is in the $100+

After the drive is replaced in the menu you will find a Recatagorize or format function, since all the software required for the drive is preinstalled in the set just follow the user menu funtion to recatagorize or format and the set will do the rest no software to install just replace the drive easy as pie.

Hope this helps,

If you have any questions please ask.

Do you need to format the drive first? usually the USB drive must be formatted either on a PC, or by the device itself.

Can't get full streaming to pioneer plasma from mac book air

Hi

Do you recall when Steve Jobs introduced a little white box called the Apple TV which allowed his products, both Software like TV shows and films from iTunes, to connect to digital TV displays?

Within that little box was the solution to problems their engineers foresaw.

You can connect your mac book to the Apple TV box and achieve the advantage of components therein that solve the problem you have by virtue of disk swapping on the 40GB or 160GB drive.

If you don't want to purchase an Apple TV and subscribe to the services for any reason, you should, if available disk space is available on your macbook, increase your swap space on the drive you have or on external drives so as to accomplish flawless streaming.

If you need help on that, let me know.

Usb harddisk problem on LG 50PT81+ not compatibel XP

LG have created a solution that only allows you to backup to a hard disk in the format that they have created.
The hard disk can not then be read by a computer as they only recognize formats such as NTFS, FAT or FAT32: not LG´s format!!!

If you reformat the disk in FAT32 format then you can copy files to the hard disk and see your photos, or certain types of DIVX files and listen to music via your TV,......BUT...you can not save TV programs from the TV to the same hard disk UNLESS you allow the TV to reformat the hard disk to LG´s format ) in which case you will lose all the files you previously had on the hard disk.

In practice LG have created a backup solution that is of little use to most users particularly bearing in mind that the backup takes almost as long as the original programs and as long again to restore.

Most of LG´s products are very clever and have a tendency to be in advance of the market.

However on this occasion LG almost had a good idea but many users are going to feel tricked like I did,
