Question about Televison & Video
I use a free view box with my lcd32tv016hd
We have had it for about 15 months.
Last week it started turning to a display with just vertical lines the remote will not work or the buttons on the TV.
After I unplug the TV and plug it back in it starts working again for about 30 min and the same thing happens again.
Is on scart 1 have not tested scart 2 yet.
Pretty sure you are looking at a POWERBOARD failure...
Pretty sure because of the way you spell colour
we are looking at a UK part sourced television.
I am not familiar w/BUSH... but 32 inch TV model
has limited space for circuit boards ... and these
flat panels are NEARLY as esoteric as our TV
"professionals" would have us believe...
I like the price, color & clarity of SAMSUNG (not
my finest moment) and accordingly... COMBINED
with a career in industrial grade electronics...
I have become a bit of an expert on what I call...
"gum wrapper" capacitors... Accordingly I have
attempted to check your locale for circuit pack
repairs & have seen only DIPs, Chips SCRs
(silicone controlled rectifiers)... great fun but
I sincerely believe 90% + troubles are caused
by these CAPACITORS...
Purely a BUSINESS decision... (in my opinion)
Some (Most: profit motivated) TV executives
decided to put cheesy CAPACITORS on their
POWERBOARDS (and then ... sell them to you).
There are REAL capacitors & capacitor companies
on our tiny planet... Can last generations even at high temperatures... (I have an entire RANT... if interested).
If you are interested in getting into your SET to
repair it yourself...
I have written numerous articles... Paramount in each:
- Electro-Static protection (WEAR wrist-bands)
- Photo/Notes: Re-Place every element ... Exactly...!!
- Force nothing: Release cables correctly...!!
ESD... Electro-Static discharge: the tiniest SPARK,
you might not even feel, is enough to destroy the
most ROBUST semiconductor circuit.
To avoid: Wear anti-static wrist strap:
Amazon com Rosewill ESD Anti Static Wrist Strap Components RTK 002 Black...
The only guarantee I will offer... If you go in carelessly
you will FAIL. A careful amateur... merely taking pictures
notes and exercising reasonable care... can replace every
screw, clip & cable EXACTLY as it was... can replace a
CIRCUIT BOARD (powerboard)... SUCCESSFULLY.
I have happily used eBay as my PARTS source...
(but I love a challenge).
I strongly recommend checking the INTERNET for
Here in the USA shopjimmy.com, SEARS & AMAZON
offer guaranteed results at competitive prices...

Search... (hope this helps)...

SOURCE: vertical lines over the screen!
Take it to a repair store it will cost about $100 AU to repair as something is coming loose when it heats up this is not a home repair job.

cap-grant, my friend has the same problem with set top box. When I phone maker I was told it is due to poor and weak signal. You must have 80% signal strength to maintain good picture. When signal strength dropped picture would freeze and had to be turned off at the power point to restart as nothing would work. So I guess what my experience says is you may need better aerial to boost signal and prevent dropout Leonard210

The problem is in your cable connection on the back of your monitor or Box. I had the same problem and solved it by reattaching the VGA cable that was loose.

i'm a verizon employee currently working at a customer's house. just swapped out 3rd 6200 stb, the channels will seemingly change on their own(scrolling) after pressing the remote just a few times. the root of the problem is that the remote is not responding to the stb in the first place properly. all i can figure is that there is some type of ir interference. i've placed the remote 1" from the stb and the same problem exists. it's not the box and the remote is brand new, tried 3 remotes as well. there is something going on in the atmosphere around the box - in or outside the custmer's house. they were on vacation and when they came back this is the trouble they were having. i don't have an answer, just some type of possibilities. there is a power transformer outside on a pole approx. 100' from the house and we had bad storm related issues in the past week. i know it's a stretch, but you never know. could be surround sound/ stereo equipment generating some kind of field??????????? good luck.

SOURCE: Black Box appearing on my screen
go into your menu and access the closed caption modes. someone has accidently put your tv in the "text" mode. turning off the closed caption feature will correct this.
