Question about Zephyr AK8100S Kitchen Hood

Open Question

Changing the lightbulb on an old Pryne range hood

On the inside of the hood in the far left and right corners are little push buttons that say "push to clean" but I can't seem to release anything - the light is "under" a panel that's flush w/ the top of the hood next to the fan and I think the hood has to come down somehow to get tot where the lightbulb is - thanks!

SOURCE: range hood is making noies

I called Savona and they said this problem is due to the blower wheel being off balance and they suggested a new motor assembly. I had to purchase a new switch assembly 2 years ago. I cannot recommend this brand/model.

SOURCE: replace fan/light switch zephyr pyramid range hood

I am also looking for instructions for PLHV36W6CC.

The fan is on right now but the switch is sliding back and forth loosely.

I just downloaded the manual but that was no help.

If someone has a quick solution, that would be great.

Please email me at robert_attieh@yahoo.ca

I have stuck my hand up and fiddled around but besides just ripping it out, could use some help.

Thanks,

Robert

How do i acess emerson pryne range hood to change bulb

Mine has a button under the hood on the rear right side (against the wall) that says, "Push to clean." When I pushed it and another similar one on the left side, the bottom of the hood swung down on hinges at the front. Going around the side and looking behind the section that was hanging down I could see all the innards of the hood, and could access the light bulb.

Range hood motors, bathroom exhaust fan motors all share the same thing. They become coated with grime inside the shaft of the rmotor due to their exhaust feature of sucking dust and grime over the motor, which is open. The only solution is to get access to the motor and clean the fan blades and squirt a little WD-40 down the shaft as that is where the noise comes from. The dirt and grime build up on the motor shaft, and eventually starts rubbing the bushing where the shaft rest and makes a noise. Yo must remove this from the shaft and allow a little play, and lubrication which the WD-40 will supply.

I have a Broan Elite 2736 downdraft range fan that is 3 years old. Upon using it , it started to go up and then down without stopping until I unplugged it. I replugged it in and it continues to go up and...

Broan model 2736A won't stay up

In my case, I pushed the button, the housing goes fully up, then right back down. I removed and disassembled the unit for cleaning. After Assembly I located two microswitches that cause the extension moror to stop at the top and at the bottom of the swing. In my case, the inertia of the motor caused the unit to "Coast" thru the top of the stroke and continue back down. I bent the outer 1/3 of the metal tabs that depress the microswitches so that the unit stopped rising a wisker sooner and no longer goes back down without pushing the button. The same coasting theroy may apply at the bottom of the stroke. The motor that runs the up and down motion is controlled by three switches, the two limit switces plus the momentary push button switch. If you don;t need to completely remove your unit for cleaning, the microswitchs can be located by removing the fan housing and looking up from inside the cabinet (under the stove) on the right side. IN my case, there was 10 years of goop to be removed.

How do you replace the light bulbs? There is a lens cover over the bulb.

This is how to replace the lights on the KitchenAid khlu162m hood. If this is not you hood please give the right make and model # so I can get you the right info.

Replacing the Halogen
lamps:
The hood liner uses 12-volt, 20
watt halogen lamp bulbs.
Before you begin, make sure that
the range hood is turned off and
that the lamps have had sufficient
time to cool.
To replace a halogen lamp:
• Remove 2 screws from the
circular metal trim around the
lamp assembly.
• Pull the trim with the lamp
assembly attached down far
enough so that the lamp can be
pushed out of the socket clips.
• Insert the new lamp into the
socket clips and push the lamp
and trim assembly back up into
the hood.
• Replace the screws.

Good Luck and please rate 4 thumbs up for the free answer.

The electronic touch control has fallen inside the hood this is the second time it has happened is there a plastic mounting bracket on the switch that has broken? left side of switch I can see a mounting...

Yep! This is a classic problem with the Therador PHE series hoods. Very weak design and NO help from the factory! Just the plastic housing is $82.00 bucks online. The panel is REALLY hard to access and the control boards, inside, fail regularly. The board alone costs over $200.00 bucks! These will fail to switch on the fan or change fan speeds or turn lights on and off or fan off. All of this randomly and arbitrarily so people tend to push the switch buttons too hard, causing the bracket to fail and entire panel body falling off inside. We have had ours propped up inside with two chop sticks for several years now and to get the fan to switch on or change speeds we fiddle with the chop sticks while repeatedly pushing the buttons and sooner or later it comes on. The lights rarely will come on, however. This unit is made by Bosch and they have all the same problems with NO fix except to replace ENTIRE control panel at a cost of $350.00 retail. This is truely an example of modern, fancy kitchen appliance over-engineered ripoff junk. Looks great but it makes sure that the fool who buys into the Brand name and cool design gets to pay and pay again for their naivete'.

Having trouble in putting filter back after omega

Try inserting it into the back first, then the front. One side is spring loaded and the filter has to be inserted against the spring first, and depressing it, while the other end is pushed up into the filter frame and released to secure it in the frame.

Speed control on fan

It means that the filters on the hood need to be cleaned. You simply pop them out and can wash them in the dishwasher. Once clean, dry and replaced, you hold down the fan speed button (the second button from the left or " - " minus for more than five seconds.) When you first hit the button the A will appear, hold the button when the letter disappears, the timer has been reset until time for the next cleaning. The microprocessor in the system will flash every 30 hours of operation.
