RAM instalation slot location Toshiba M100-ST5111?

Hi There,
All advice is that Toshiba M100-ST5111 has 2 x RAM slots. I have opened back and found only one. I would like to add another stick of RAM but can't find the second slot. Can anyone help?
Thanks,

"All advice is that Toshiba M100-ST5111 has 2 x RAM slots" ...
Unfortunately, me thinks wherever you got this "advise", it appears to be inaccurate.

Based on your visual observation of only one physical slot available (which is conclusive in-and-of itself), it's not surprising to see the following corroborate it as well:
http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-satellite-m100-st5111/4507-3121_7-31749235.html?tag=mncol;psum

Refer to section "RAM"

"Installed Size 256 MB / 4 GB (max)"
Indicates this product:

  • ships with one 256MB stick of RAM
  • The one slot will accomodate an up-to (max) 4GB size module (stick) of RAM
"RAM configuration features 1 x 256 MB"
Indicates this product:
  • ships with one 256MB stick of RAM
  • has only one module slot
Therefore, get the largest (up to 4GB) module of [DDR2 SDRAM - (up to) 533 MHz] RAM you can afford, then simply replace that relatively puny 256MB stick of RAM that's currently installed.

The 1st RAM slot is under the keyboard. This slot has a RAM module installed when you purchase the laptop. The 2nd RAM slot is on the bottom of the laptop.

How can I increase memory of toshiba Satellite A105

A RAM expansion slot is located on the bottom of the laptop behind a small panel. Remove the panel to get access to the RAM slot/s. It may have two RAM slots, if it has only one the the 1st RAM slot will most likely be located under the keyboard.
If the laptop has two RAM slots on the bottom of the laptop and the 2nd one is empty then you can add anothe RAM module. Try to get the same make and model as the original to double your RAM..
If both slots are occupied then you need to replace the existing RAM with larger capacity RAM modules.

it is better to remove both the old RAM and fix the new RAM in the upper slot.....

Where are the 2 sockets for RAM memory located? One is at the back of the laptop in the center, where is the SECOND ONE? They are not in the same location. Please, I need the exact location.

The 2 memory slots are in the same location. The memory modules essentiall lie on top of each other. If you open the back cover you will see 2 slots in which you insert the memory modules. They're referred to as slot Aand slot B.

You should upgrade your RAM memory. Check with the owners manual and purchase RAM module. Install the RAM module in the memory slot provided at the bottom of your laptop.

You should also check the speed of the internet connection you use.

Install 2 RAM modules of 1 GB

The other memory may be soldered in. Check your manual and see if it has any information on additional memory. If you only have on expansion slot you may have to buy larger memory chips. like instead of 2 chips 1 gig each you may have to purchase a 2 gig chip. Computer companies usually make the chip installation easy to get to on lap tops.

Memory slots?

I found the solution to roger2 and my own problem. The secondary memory add-on slot is on the bottom of the unit, and can be accessed by removing one screw and the slot cover. The other, main memory slot is actually located underneath the keyboard. You should shut down the computer completely, unplug the power plug, and also remove the laptop battery before installing memory. Also, it may void your warranty if you mess around inside of your laptop, so please keep this in mind. You will need to take a very thin flat head screwdriver to gently pry up the panel above the F1-F12 keys. The panel is the entire plastic piece covering the speakers that has the power on, play, stop, ff, rw buttons on it. I used a very thin and flat hair clip that I found laying around to pry up the edges starting from the Pause/Break key moving left towards the ESC key. The screen lid has to be opened all the way for the piece to be completely removed. Once that is taken off, you will see two small screws holding the keyboard in place. Remove these two screws and gently pull out the thin ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the laptop. The ribbon cable is located directly underneath the spacebar, so move slowly and carefully when removing the keyboard so as not to damage anything. In the center of the exposed area, there is a sort of rectangular metal cover with two screws holding it in place. The one that is about the same size as the slot cover on the other memory slot is the correct one. Remove the screws and open the metal cover. Underneath is the other memory slot. After you install the other memory stick, if you have 4 GB of total RAM, you should know that in 32-bit operating systems, Windows will only be able to use approximately 3.0-3.5GB of RAM. This is because of a limitation of 32 Bit Windows operating systems, and not because of the RAM itself. Only 64-bit operating systems will be able to use all 4 GB. On my system for example, I have the same Toshiba M105-S3041 laptop as you do, running Windows XP Home with two 2 GB sticks, and My Computer properties shows that I have 2.99 GB memory.
