It's an external webcam or webcam on the top of the monitor?
if it's external, have you checked Universal Serial Bus controllers on the device manager? the problem might be the USB has '?' sign on it,uninstall it and restart your computer
if it's the one of the lcd monitor, try to find a key on the keyboard that has webcam picture on it,then press it with the Fn (function) key at the same time when the computer is on

try this first. download the latest webcam driver from the support site. uninstall the old driver then install the latest one. if fails, then download the system bios then install the latest bios to your laptop.

SOURCE: Dell Integrated Web Cam not working

Look in device manager and see if the camera is showing up. If you see it or some other unknown device and it has a yellow " ! " (exclamation mark) next to it. Then you should reinstall your camera drivers. They should have come on a CD with your laptop or you can go to www.DELL.com and redownload them.

If you don't see your camera or any other device with the yellow exclamation mark then your camera may be defective and have to change

If your warranty from DELL hasn't expired they will change it for you.

SOURCE: Dell Studio 1537 (Vista) Integrated Webcam no longer working??

The issue could be due to a loose connection of the camera above the lcd panel. Try uninstalling the drivers and shutting down the computer. Once done gently press the area around the webcam. Power on th computer. See if you get any new hardware and if it installs. If no. check in device manager. If you still have a bang on the webcam uninstall all usb root hubs and restart the computer. If still no joy power off the computer. You need to hold down the Fn button (Located next to the CTRL button on the left hand corner) and then power on the system. This will take the system to the diagnostics mode. After running the tests run a custo tests on the webcam.

SOURCE: i have a dell studio 1558 and its integrated webcam is not working and its not working on the dell webcam central either can you please help me fix it?

You can download the WEBcam abd device drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on thebottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Taglabel is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, theService Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where thespecific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you selectthe Windows of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on thislink to download the drivers: - http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

one solution -- reinstall the CD recovery to factory default settings

go to START, in bottom START SEARCH, type in recovery --- go to that part of the software and format the drive , reinstall and set to factory default -- back up any data you need first before taking this approach
