How do I turn it off?

On my 750 I can lock the keyboard but that does not turn the unit off so unless I leave it plugged in, the battery is low every time I want to use it as a handheld devise. Is there a solution?

Thanks. I did try that and it did not work but after receiving your comments, I have tried again and find that sometimes it works and sometimes not. If I am careful and sometimes try a couple of times, I can turn it off and I can live with that.

Sliding swtich to off position, unit stays on. For the person that said 'read the directions' the only reference included (in the only instructions included: The Quick Start Manual) is 'resetting the nuvi' which says if the screen stops functioning, turn the nuvi off then on again. Matter of fact, the instructions are among the worst I've ever seen.

The "on" switch is a toggle. Push it to the left once, and it turns the unit on. Push it to the left again, and it turns the unit off.

Keyboard not working

If you're writing about a laptop, try an external keyboard, in a USB port. Otherwise, unless there's a switch or Fn button combination to lock the kb, you probably need to take the laptop to a service center.

If your Desktop computer's kb won't work:

- The round plug (PS/2) can't simply be plugged back in, if it comes unplugged. Usually you need to restart the machine to see the kb.

- If it's a wireless kb, you may need batteries in the kb; turn it over and look for the battery case, and for a piece of plastic sticking out of a new kb.. remove the plastic so the batteries make contact.

- Sometimes after replacing batteries, you need to press a button on the bottom side of the kb and on the USB dongle used to communicate with the kb. Press both buttons so the units will see each other.

Eee pc900hd keyboard lock

Hook a external keyboard to the laptop, if okay! unless you have pressed something that locked it down, the laptop keyboard will need to be changed. But if both have same problem you may have a virus, device driver issue. If mouse pad works try a system restore before this occured.

Low battery display comes on when it is turned on then it shuts off its self

If this occurs when running on battery power, then it sounds like you just have a dead/bad battery.

If your GPS works fine when connected to a power source, then leave your GPS plugged in to a power source over-night, and if you still have this problem...

You can check to see if your device was included in a recent battery-related recall here:

If your unit is not included in the recall and you are (or a friend is) handy, you can buy a replacement on the net and replace it yourself for around $25 (US Dollars):
(There are other sources for the battery, I do know if the linked company is trustworthy.)

I'm not sure what Garmin charges for this type of service?

How do i turn off the demo mode?

The "DEMO" mode initializes when power is initiated in the unit for the first time. You cancel it by turning turning the power on by using the button the unit or the remote. If you unplug the unit from the power outlet between uses, and plug it in will go back to the demo mode.this can be avoided by leaving the unit plugged in between uses and/or install 3 AA batteries in the battery compartment in the lower rear behind the main battery compartment .these batteries are memory is not necessary to instal the 9 size D batteries for portable use unless you use it as a portable...I hope this was helpful...

I keep getting low battery message while my 750 is plugged in?

I'm still not 100% clear about why this is an issue (I'm having the same problem with my nüvi 760), but . . .

If you connect the Garmin to a power source via the USB port and leave it for a good long time (overnight) it should recharge even though the unit had been refusing to accept a charge through the normal power cord.

The light thats a lock with the letter a starts blinking and it wont boot up. how do i fix this

The blinking light is just a status for the caps light. If the unit does not power on or boot , you may have
A) a low or bad battery, Take the battery out and try to power up just by plugging the unit into the outlet.

B) If that does not work, You may have a loose DC connector on the system board. Unplug the plug from the outlet, then slightly wiggle the connector at the back of the laptopwhere the adapter plugs in. If it moves , the connector is loose on the MLB.

The blue lights located above the keyboard indicate the following:
Turns on when the numeric keypad is enabled.
Turns on when the uppercase letter (caps lock) function is enabled.
Turns on when the scroll lock function is enabled.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

My garmin 750 gps will not turn on when plugged into power source

A dead battery will cause the unit not to turn on, but it should turn on if connected to an external power source like an AC wall charger or DC car charger.

Garmin 750 - 90 days old

Had the same problem-try this- leave your nuvi off for about 4 hours. Push the power button to the right(lock position) and then to the left (power on position) and let go. I suspect temperature (getting overheated is the problem. This worked for me.
