Can you please give me full details on what the problem is, the BSOD, does it appear after the boot is finished and loading the OS?
Does the OS start and then get the BSOD, ETC.
If You have the original install cd, enter your bios and at BOOT DEVICES [OR BOOT SETTINGS] make sure that the first device to boot from is your cd/dvd etc, Put The Cd of the OS in the cd/rom and restart the machine, it will hopefully start the instalation of windows do not tell the program to install a fresh copy, but rather use the R for repair.
If that does not work or you still have problems it sounds like it's time for a new instal of windows, the BSOD [Blue Screen Of Death] pops up when files get damaged, if you overclock without checking everything voltages, fans, TEMPERATURE of CPU etc.
Also can you please tell me how long ago the system was activated, and what if anything did you do or were working on when you got this BSOD.
What the OS you are using is can help also, and is it sp1? sp2? sp3? for win XP even vista is up to SP1 already for a supposed new os from ms.

(2)If you are not able to enter in safe mode Then you need to fix error on hard drive. For that you need windows disk or recovery disk. Boot your computer with that disk For that when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 "del" key to enter in bios. Then go to boot menu and set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom. to check, take out your hard disk and put it in other laptop. if the problem persist your OS is corrupted. In that case, you need to reformat your OS in a defaulty factory settings.
You should be able to do a repair as long as you have the windows installation disk.
You also might be able to take the computer back in time if it will boot to safe mode (or last good boot). Start tapping on F8 after you turn it on to get to the boot preference screen, then select Safe Mode.

Try booting in safe mode. you may want to first try loading the last known good configuration.
To get into the Windows Vista Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use yourarrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key. Let computer boot to safe mode and then shutdown. If problem continues then Start in safe mode again.
After you boot to safe mode then go to Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings, Advanced tab should be at the forefront. Go towards the bottom of the popup (Startup and Recovery) and select settings. Then in the settings popoup uncheck Automatically Restart. OK and apply everyithing then restart computer. Let me know what happens.
Compaq? Oh, then you are going to have a hard disk partition with the recovery files, so you don't need the disks. You have made it, that's great, because in case you cannot access the hard disk, you cannot initiate a recovery without ordering recovery CDs for your model from HP.
There are a number of ways to do it.
Try pressing F9 at startup (when the Compaq or HP logo shows up), and if it doesn't work, see the key for System Recovery at the bottom of the screen. It will recover, just follow the instructions on the screen.
Also, you can insert the first disk anytime, or boot from it when you start the PC up.
Or, you can use the Recovery Manager software in the PC that is pre-installed and it will help you to do a System Recovery from the files on your recovery partition.
