Laptop screen partially blank

I have an HP NC8000 laptop and the screen has gone blank on the left hand quarter. Everything seem to work but I am travelling blind trying to get anything to work as I cannot see many of my icons or indeed any thing on the left side of my task bar.

Does anyone have a fix for this

It may happen that ur screen became idle
because of less connectivity by cable residing at the bending position of ur laptop.
So u have to immedietly meet ur laptop's vendor.

HP Pavalian laptop screen gone black and blank.

It seems like the lcd back light may have failed can you see a faint image on the screen when you look really close, try it with a torch. If you dont see even the faintest image the inverter has failed and needs to be replaced. If you look on youtube again and search for videos of replacing both the back light and the inverter it will give you some info on how to change them. Do a google search for hp spares and you will probably find what you are looking, i think the inverter is about £30 and the back light is bit cheaper. hope this helps.

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion DV7 laptop. When I turn on the computer everything seems to be working but the screen is blank. Blank meaning black and/or colorless without light. Thanks!

Borrow a monitor and plug it into the side of the notebook to verify that the computer still works. If it does then the screen has gone out.

HP Pavilion laptop screen has gone black/blank

You can either use an external monitor for working with the laptop or talk to HP for replacement.

The best option is to use external monitor to backup data before sending it to replacement.

Good luck

Laptop screen partially blank

Generally, the LCD is a pass or Fail device, with a few exceptions. You can try reseating the LCD cable to the video card and see if that makes any difference in the display.

If video looks normal on an external monitor, then LCD replacement is in order (Arround $200 to 400 depending on display) if issue is the same on external monitor then the video card is failing

My nc8000 shuts down after few seconds and starts after power plugged in or battery inserted

Hi Turecki, It's a moderately easy fix for this common issue with HP/Compaq Laptops. Simply go to ebay, purchase an "inverter" board built for a NC8000 laptop can range from $10-$50 just purchase one with a minimum 6 month warranty. Its about a 0.5 inch by 15 inches. Unscrew all of the tiny phillips screws located and hidden behind black rubber covers on the LCD screen. Pop off the plastic LCD cover and replace the inverter board located at the bottom of the LCD (plug & play). Put it all back together and voila...problem fixed.

Have fun and practice some repair skills.

Hp nc8000 power issue

Many of the power jacks also contain switch contacts that allow the adapter to power both the laptop and the "charging" system. I would suspect that one of the leads had either been broken or at least detached from the pc board. This laptop needs to be dis-assembled and the power jack repaired. Worse case will result in the replacement of the jack or the repair of the board if that part has been cracked.
