Paddles don't work for atari 2600

My atari paddle controllers don't work in the left port, or at least the second atari paddle controller in a combined set don't work. The joystick works jsut fine but the right paddle don't. I know it isn't the controllers bec. they work in the right port.

Sounds like a pin has come loose from the main board inside your unit. If you are handy with a soldering iron, and not opposed to opening up your console then, you can take a look at the connection between the connector and the board... If you are not comfortable with this idea, then you can find a competent electronics repair shop on the internet. You could also replace that unit with a "new" one from a number of internet shops or eBay, then retire that one. Hope this helps.

Well it sounds like the controller that you have is not working properly so you could buy a new controller then. Lukie games sells atari 2600 stuff. Or you could open up the controller and try re soldering it the. To see if it works

I plug my atari controller into the system and the button works but the joystick does not. No matter which direction I try to move in the character remains motionless. I have tried multiple controllers...

Well it might be the controllers ports inside of the system that are broken then so you could
try and resolder the controller ports if not buy a new one then.

I have an Atari 2600 console. The Player #1 slot is stuck in the firing position. It is not the joystick. I swapped out joysticks and no change. It is something with the console. What can I do to fix this?

Well the controller ports inside of the console might be needed to be resoldered or the controller ports might be broken or it could be just bad controllers then.

ON my atari 2600 my paddlel controlers don't work in the left port. but my regular joystick dose. what do i do?

Unless you are an electronics expert with a soldering iron, I would just get a replacement paddle from eBay or online seller. I occasionally experienced this problem in the early- to mid-1980s - getting new paddles always did the trick. If you are up for a challenge, look at the joystick pin and then look at the paddle pin - you will see at least a one-pin difference between the two. Check the paddle pin to see if one is physically damaged, then compare the pin on the console itself. Have fun!

Atari 2600 controller problem

I HAVE BEEN REBUILDING ATARI SYSTEMS FOR 20 YEARS AND THOUGHT I HAD SEEN EVERYTHING, AND I WOULD THINK IT TO BE A JOYSTICK PROBLEM. THEY CAN BE REBUILT WITH NEW CONTACTS, BUT I AM THINKING THE PROBLEM MUST BE INTERNAL. I CAN ONLY SUGGEST TRYING ANOTHER DECK. THERE MUST BE SOME PROBLEM WITH THE PINS IN THE PLUG PORT.
