A sound card (also known as an audio card) is an internal Computer expansion card that facilitates economical input and output of audio signals to and from a computer under control of computer programs. The term sound card is also applied to external audio interfaces that use software to generate sound, as opposed to using hardware inside the PC. Typical uses of sound cards include providing the audio component for multimedia applications such as music composition, editing video or audio, presentation, education and entertainment (games) and video projection.
Sound functionality can also be integrated onto the motherboard, using components similar to plug-in cards. The best plug-in cards, which use better and more expensive components, can achieve higher quality than integrated sound. The integrated sound system is often still referred to as a "sound card". Sound processing hardware is also present on modern video cards with HDMI to output sound along with the video using that connector; previously they used a SPDIF connection to the motherboard or sound card.
hi, you might first want to check your performance settings by clicking the apple and clicking prefernces then setting it to high performance under the power ratings options.
also update the drivers from http://tascam.com/product/us-122l/downloads/
other than that it may be a problem with the unit. make sure if your using a laptop you are using a power supply.
also check the usb lead and compatibility of the unit.
I had the same problem during instalation... Try connecting first and then connect the power cable. It worked for me and installed properly. The problem is I'm facing a new problem now... The Azmixer.exe -or something similar - won't load on memory... The sound card doesn't work and isn't recognized... Any idea...?
I don't know which drivers your using but try using WDM drivers or if your already using the WDM drivers try using ASIO drivers.
Try to make sure you don't have any software running that is not ABSOLUTELY necessary while recording.
I have a feeling that the problem is really your processor. Celerons SUCK!
Having said that I've seen the same problem on PC's build for heavy duty recording sparing little expense. The solution was switching to ASIO drivers.
Hope this helps,
