Windows live messenger

I recently bought a new laptop (toshiba) with vista on it. i downloaded windows live messenger beta, but when i try to sign in it comes up with "signing into windows messenger failed because the service was temporarily unavailable. please try again later. Error code: 8100030d"

now i did research the problem hoping to find a solution, and i have been told over and over to download programs like regcure and uniblue registery booster. I did exactly as i was told but still the same code comes up.

You said the majic words "beta". These are programs that are not ready for use in the public because of bugs in them Microsoft allows people to download them so they can identify what does and does not work then add the fixes. There is no support for anything beta...best to cut your losses and wait for the real thing to come out.

Hi,

Do this once or twice and this problem wont reoccur, it hasn't for me again. Go to device manager and disable the webcam, restart the computer then go back and enable it. Now the webcam will for fine with all instant messengers. I remember donig this few times when my laptop was new. Now its been over a year and this problem hasnot occured again. I hope this helps you too or your friend.

Windows vista doesn´t like live messenger 2009?

There ... isn't ... a Live Messenger 2009, at least not that's come out of Beta testing. More importantly, there isn't a legitimate Messenger.com.

You may have bigger problems than your chat program. Please humor me and try some basic steps to make sure you've got the right software installed, and none of the wrong software. These are also good things to do generally, for the future of your computer.

Update your anti-virus software. If you don't have any, consider a free package, such as Grisoft's AVG Free Edition:
http://free.grisoft.com
Keep carefully reading and clicking -- they -really- make it difficult to download the free version, because they'd much rather you buy it.

Download and install two anti-spyware packages:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, from here:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Spybot Search and Destroy/Spyboy S&D from here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

Scroll down a little on each download page to find the download link. Download, install. Start up each; run an update; run an update again, the run the scan in Spybot (maybe 45 minutes) and a quick scan in Malwarebytes (maybe 10 minutes). If any problems are found, please please please post back here with all the details (what was found, what pieces it installed in what location, what it removed, etc.)

Now that you've got 'em, try to run the updates and scans perhaps weekly.

Now let's make sure you have the right Live Messenger.
http://get.live.com/messenger/overview

Click download. Uncheck all the boxes in the next screen. Download. Run WLinstall.exe. Uncheck all the options in the first screen. Leave the options unchecked in the second screen. It installs.

Run it -- Start: All Programs: Windows Live: Messenger.

Click Help: About. Should say Version 2008, copyright 2007, Microsoft.

Do you have a menu bar at the top of the Messenger screen? If not, click Help: Show Menu.

Click Tools: Audio and Video Setup. The second screen should let you select your sound card and play a test sound. It'll also tell you to make sure you don't have headphones plugged in, let you adjust the program's sound level, etc. Work through that. If it doesn't make a peep, please see if you've got any music in Start: My Music and verify that you can hear that. If not, please please write back and we'll try to figure out if some other problem is afoot.

When i am on msn and want to put on webcam a message appears in a conversation saying Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later. (0x8ac70202)

This might be a compatibility problem between your webcam drivers with the new Windows Live Messenger program. You may want to:

1. Update your webcam drivers and see if Windows Live Messenger can detect it when you run the Audio Video setup from its Tools menu.

2. Or you can downgrade back to the older version of Windows Live Messenger which is compatible for your camera. Doing this however also requires that you uninstall all the Windows Live Beta products from your computer.

Note: You will not see a separate Windows Live Messenger on your Add/Remove programs, instead you will either see there Windows Live Beta products or Windows Live Essentials.

You can download the older versions of Windows Live Messenger from:

Windows Live Messenger 8.1:

Windows Vista-Windows live messenger and smart bro band

Hi,
your conflict or problem is with vista drivers.
get the latest updates from M$ for your machine.
Why do people always assume, that the latest is the greatest.
Vista is a pile of unfinished junk.
windows 2000-XP are far superior operating systems.
Vista is unfinished, like most microsoft products.
never get fully tested and debugged, they let the consumer find the floors.
