Phillips GoGear Problem

Run the Philips Device Manager and select Update. If the device manager won't recognize the player, unplug the GoGear, hold in either the shuffle button or volume + and reconnect the GoGear to the computer until a Found New Hardware Wizard window pops up.

Need assistance regarding my philips gogear 6gb HDD/1630/17 mp3 player

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

I have a philips go gead 6 gb when i cut it on it say please connect to a pc and it wont allow me to go to my play list it freezes

Sounds like the firmware is corrupt or deleted.

Install and run the Philips Device Manager from the product CD.

Connect the player to the PC.

Wait for the PC to recognise the player then select the Repair/Restore option and follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format the player and reload the firmware.

NOTE: ALL TRACKS WILL BE DELETED FROM THE PLAYER

If the problem persists, it could be a faulty hard disk in the player. This is a standard Microdrive.

If this is the case, www.cheapestelectrical.co.uk have a couple in stock. (Only 6GB). They are not on the site, so you will need to e-mail them.

No device connected

Try installing the newest version fo the software from the Philips website first.
www.usasupport.philips.com
Enter your model number
On the next page, click on your exact model number without the "B" on the end
On the next page, click on "software and drivers"

If that fails:
Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
