Re-wiring a DELL dhm

The wires will only connect in the right places. If you haven't been inside before the problem started, then there is nothing to worry about in that respect, cables don't just unplug themselves. There is a very good chance that the power supply itself has failed. They aren't expensive and are easy to fit. Just take a photo of the inside before you remove the old one, it will make it easier to refit the new one.

I need a replacement ethernet card for my Dell Dimension 4700, where is the best place to get one

Dell ... ... second best is any big box store that carries computer equipment ... places that come to mind after a advertiser is Staples, Office Depot/Max Radio Shack, K-mart, Best Buy ... there are others.

You will need to know what kind of slot you are putting the card into. Follow static electrical safety procedures ... remove the card and take it with you to assure you get the proper card.

The screen on my laptop isn't working

If you are familier with opening your laptop up, check the following: the monitor connector cable has not come loose, if this is connected securely, I would advise that you take your laptop into your local PC repairs shop to show them exactly what is happening...they will be able to diagnose the fault with a very short space of time.

Also: when you turn on the laptop, do you get any images, writing on it at all, ie, the boot up screen, does it appear? If so, and you get nothing else after the post up screen, you have a problem with the onboard graphics card.

If you do not get anything at all when you press the on button and everything seems to be working ok except you just have a black screen, there is a 99% chance that the actual screen has gone, in which case you will need to have the screen replaced. This can be a costly repair and it sometimes is not economically logical to replace the screen as the cost would be sometime greater than actually going out and buying a new laptop!

Hope this help

How do you go about upgrading the memory of a hp omnibook 900 laptop

easiest way is go online to hp product support. ask for upgrade of memory for your laptop. Buy memory at local computer store. Laptops are very compact, and time consuming. If there is a local IT college near you, I recommend you take the laptop, and memory there. You can have a student install memory for you at little cost .

Most memory upgrade stick can be bought at your local store that carries computers if you order it from gateway you will pay a lot more then its worth.Sometimes you do have to buy them off the web which is a very easy process, most of them you enter your model number and they will recommend which ones you should buy.I would suggest a company called I have ordered several products from them over the years always satisfied.
