No Sound I can't get my Yamaha Receiver to work in any mode. The only way I can get sound is in Multi channel and I know that is not right. There have been a few occasions after working at it for hours I would get it to give me sound but as soon as I shut down and turned it back on I would have no sound again. I'm sure my connections are right but if you want me to I can take a picture with My digital and send it to you. I have this receiver for 6 weeks and Yamaha does nothing to help me. If you can think of anything that might help I would really appreciate it,so thanks in advance and if you need me for any questions I'm here every day, again thanks. Chris Zevlas [email protected]

Yamaha receiver RXV375, I have surround sound with blue ray and tuner/radio. But with the TV (Samsung) only sound out of front speaker, can't get surround sound with TV.

Each input on a receiver can have it's own preferences (settings). My guess is that if you have a two channel analog input and have surround sound, you have on an artificial setting to mimic a multi-channel source. If your TV's output is just a two channel out and you want the same thing, do the the following.
Turn your receiver to the tuner input and see what setting it is on (what effect is employed). Then, go back to the TV input on the receiver and change your sound setting to match that. Now, I should say that each input may sound better with different settings/effects, which is why they allow different settings for each input. But doing that, will give you a starting point.
On the other hand, the receiver is likely choosing a digital multi-channel setting for the bluray, as it has a multi-channel signal coming thru the HDMI or optical cables.
Some receivers aren't all that intuitive when it comes to changing the sound settings/ effects, that's when you pull out the manual.
If it's too loud, you're too old!!!

I have a yamaha RX-V663 receiver but can't get no sound from speakers I got then to turn on once but don't know what I did Can u help?

First check that all your speaker connections are good. Some systems have the ability to mute speakers, which is found on the remote. Others have a speaker switching on system. Often connected to the set up of the unit. As this is a multi channel amp the speakers need to be set up for the sound modes.
Follow the instructions in the user manual. If you haven't got one search online as there will be a free PDF of it.

Sony STR-DH510 Multi-channel AV receiver connected to cambridge soundworks ensemble IV w/ passive subwoofer: no sound from center channel during viewing, or during speaker level test- all other speakers...

The STR directs sound to the center as instructed by its speaker setup. You say the center does not work on calibration. Is it defined?

Prove another speaker does or does not work on the center output. Then we'll know if it's the receiver or the speaker ensemble that has the problem.

Have you checked the manual for this "
There is no sound, or only a very low-level sound is heard from the center/ surround. "?

How do we listen to aCD in 5 channel suround sound without having the TV on we can only get straight sound. We have a Yamaha RX-V365 av receiver.

Do you listen to audio CDs via a CD player or DVD player? Pure audio CD is only 2-channel, so either TV or the DVD player is doing the mix to 5 channels. But you can choose the sound mode via remote - there should be modes like 5ch/7ch stereo, where the same signal is going to all speakers (I you this mode for listening to radio sometimes).

Yamaha HTR-5750 no sound when I turn to the DTV/Cable setting

If you are not getting sound on "Any" input except "multi channel" you have a bad DSP chip in the receiver. In short, you need a new receiver, it's a 500.00 repair. If you get sound on "All" inputs except "DTV/CBL" You need to get into the main menu of the Yamaha and select audio, toggle to input, then DTV/CBL and select "Auto". If you still do not get audio, it would be due to the version of HDMI software in your receiver. If it's under warranty, Yamaha will update hardware and software for you at N/C. If it's out of warranty, use digital coaxial or optical as your audio input for TV and run your HDMI directly to the TV. (The repair for this too would run 250-350) I hope I've covered all the possibilities. If you need further help, post a comment and I can help you more.

Left from speaker not working- Yamaha HTR-5940-6.1 channel

Redbird,

What do you have in the "multi channel input" jacks on the rear of the receiver? Those inputs Right, Left, Center, Surround R+L, and Sub are used when selecting 6 channel mode. They bypass the receivers surround processor board.
