Question about Toshiba Projection Televisions

Open Question

52HMX95 bulbs burning out too frequently

I purchased a toshiba 52hmx95 on 02/18/06.I am now on my third dlp lamp and am highly disappointed in this tv. The first lamp went out in May of 2006 only three months after the purchase. The second lamp lasted a little longer though not nearly as long as Toshiba projected. The first lamp was replaced by Toshiba but I had to purchase the second lamp.Posting Date Trans Date Type Description Expense Category Amount2/20/2008 2/20/2008 Payment ACH PMT - THANK YOU Miscellaneous -2/3/2008 1/31/2008 Purchase DLP LAMPS Household $176.00 The above shows when I purchased the second lamp. The serial number for my tv is 26403675. I am of the opinion that Toshiba should send me a bulb to replace the second bulb that burned out. In the event Toshiba doesn't replace the bulb, I can assure you that you will have lost a customer. I also have a 32"toshiba lcd and a toshiba vcr/dvd player. So I have been a good customer for Toshiba and expect the same in return.Terry Gillespie608 E Butler RdMauldin SC 29662 pportt@charter.net--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take off the back, and take out screws holding in the light engine. Look at new light engine, and the old one you will have to take off a couple of things that your new engine wont come with. It is very easy to change. Any questions please ask.

SOURCE: Toshiba 52HMX95 DLP has weird gray think line

DLP TVs work projecting light throught a tube covered with mirrors, called the light tunnel.

The gray shadow it is something in the middle of the light tunnel, probably a mirror that has gone out of place when you moved the TV.

maxie99,

Fan is available at https://www.encompassparts.com/webwiz/wwiz.asp?wwizmstr=WEB.SEE&partnumber=6475656&smodel=52HM95 for about $80.00. Replacement should be as simple as unplugging the fan cord and removing a couple screws to remove. Do the work with the unit unplugged from the wall. Reverse the procedure to install the new unit.

Thanks for using FixYa and the great rating.

These Toshiba DLP's were lemons.
There was a class action lawsuit in the US and Toshiba were forced to issue a recall on the lamps. Toshiba replaced the first lamp for free but when the lamps are burning out every 6 months at a replacement cost of $200 these tv's are expensive to run.
Sounds to me like the light engine has failed. This will probably be a $800-$1000 repair.
Scrap it and take the hit.

I think that you have a problem with your ballast board this is the power source to the lamp if for any reason it starts to wear out or weak it will not be able to turn on your lamp check this link out it is about Toshiba lawsuit

Well...it will be about 5 years now with this tv....2nd bulb....was 2,000......ends up costing 2250....and counting...id buy another tv ....but to buy a bulb is simply cheaper....short end

I can't believe a lamp would cost that much. I service LCD and DLP projectors and the cost of lamp range between 250 to 500 max. Lamps will lose alot of life if they are turned on and off alot. The mfg's rate the life of a lamp if it is turned on and remain on till they burn out. THe lamp is given a high voltage when they start. This cuts the life down. Try searching for lamps to see if you can find a cheaper price online.

Hewitt Packard high definition DLP tv Product #EX543AA#ABA need part, hp no longer carries them.

I have a brand new L2114a lamp for sale. I paid 299 plus shipping on ebay but it turned out to be the wrong one (despite what the manual says). I ordered the correct one I needed from HP. I am willing to part with it for 200. I can send pictures of the lamp and the box and the reciept. This is a BRAND NEW LAMP.

This lamp works in the following televisions and replaces the lamps listed below:
HP Pavilion md5020n 50-inch High Definition DLP TV L1735A
HP Pavilion md5820n 58-inch High Definition DLP TV L1736A
HP Pavilion md6580n 65-inch High Definition DLP TV L1737A
HP Pavilion md5880n 58-inch High Definition DLP TV L1798A
