Hello, W/D here. I'm not aware of any dryers shipping with a spare belt on board, but this may vary by region. You are correct in that the back is removed to gain access to the belt. Disconnect the power first. If there isn't a spare in the cabinet (probably not), take the old belt with you to your local appliance parts supply house and get a replacement, or it may be ordered on-line. The belt number will be on the belt. Here's a good website showing how your model is assembled. This site also has parts descriptions and prices; useful for comparison shopping. There is also usually a button-link to a free downloadable manual. Here 'tis: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/GE-Parts/Dryer-Parts/Model-DISR473DG1WW/0432/0151200?pathTaken=&prst=0&shdMod=DISR473DG1WW Another good site to check for parts is: http//www.appliancepartspros.com. Armed with these items, replacing the belt will be child's play for you! Best regards, (and please rate this solution), --W/D--
Hi Roy, W/D here. I wrote this earlier for another person, but it works just as well twice.
You already have the diagram! (Bear with me). Make sure that your power is off.
If you look carefully at the drum, you can see where the old belt was running. Place your new belt in that position. Now, place the belt over the motor pulley (It is in the same plane as the belt position on the dryer). Pull the tensioning pulley past the belt, and ease it into place. Roll the drum several revolutions by hand, just to get the belt tracking completely right. Put it all back together and you're done! Best regards, --W/D--
